Halloween Fan Art Contest

(Sponsored by Alivans - Makers of Fine Handcrafted Magic Wands)

CONTEST UPDATE: The 30 finalists of MuggleNet's Halloween Fan Art Contest have now been posted. If you would like to vote, click here. The three winners will be announced on October 31st.

I would like to thank each and every one of you who entered this contest. Overall, we received almost 300 fan art submissions in the space of three weeks - it's not an easy task breaking those down to 30. I would like to point out that the standard in the contest was extremely high, so I hope this is some comfort to those of you who worked very hard on your art but did not make the top 30. Finally, thanks again for entering - I thoroughly enjoyed all of your fan art!

MuggleNet is proud to announce a brand new fan art competition! Halloween is just around the corner, so we've decided to make the witching holiday the theme of this contest. So, if you feel you're up to the challenge and would like to enter, read below for more details. All entries are now being accepted. Entries will be broken down to the best 30 and these will then be voted on by MuggleNet visitors. Keep checking back here for the latest competition status. Finally, best of luck and I'm looking forward to seeing your work!

DEADLINE:

October 14th

RULES:

Fan art must:

  • Not exceed 1000x1000 pixels in size
  • Be in .jpg or .gif formats
  • Be hand-drawn/painted. No computer-generated images will be be accepted. Read below for more details.
  • Relate to the theme of Halloween (i.e., your fan art must either depict a Halloween-related scene from the Potter series or something of your own invention but with both ideas of Halloween and Harry Poter included)
  • Not contain any content which would be rated above PG

  • In addition, only one fan art item will accepted per person. Also, we accept fan art from people in any country in the world (as long as they have a postal system!)

RULES UPDATED:
Although we do not accept images that are completely generated/created by a computer program (such as Adobe Photoshop), we have now slightly bended that rule. Because some people lack the requirements to scan color art into their computer, you may now color in your art using your computer (i.e., you scan your black and white art into your computer and use a computer program to color it in). However, this is ALL you may do to it. Any other form of editing, will be deemed cheating and you shall be disqualified.

Also, because a number of people who enter this competition have acquired degrees in Art or otherwise, you might feel that it may be slightly unfair upon MuggleNet's younger visitors. However, I have taken this into account. When you submit your fan art, I appeal to you that you are truthful about your age so that I can give people below the age of fifteen a sort-of handicap. Entrants above that age won't receive any kind-of handicap. Therefore, although it is very kind, I urge everyone who feels they may have an advantage over others to enter the contest anyway. In the end, if you gain a first/second/third place, you can pass this on to the finalist of your choice.

UPDATE 2: you may take digital photos of your fan art and send them in that way, also.

PRIZES:

1st prize- The lucky winner will receive The Scarlet Hawk broom or wand of their choice from Alivan's. Finally, the winner's fan art piece will be placed in MuggleNet's banner/header on October 31st for one day!

2nd prize- Whoever comes in second place will receive The Apprentice Wand from Alivans. They will also have their fan art and personal fan art website (if applicable) plugged by MuggleNet.
