Oliver Martyn John Phelps was born on February 25, 1986 with his twin brother James, with whom he shared the screen in the Harry Potter films. They were born and raised in Sutton Coldfield in Birmingham, England, where they attended the Arthur Terry School. They graduated in 2004, having taken A-level exams. In their free time, Oliver and James enjoy rock music, video games, and watching football matches.

Oliver and his twin brother James attended an open audition when they were 14 years old in 2000 for Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. The twins were cast as George and Fred Weasley, respectively. They are among the few Potter actors to have an appearance in all eight films.
Since Harry Potter: The Exhibition opened in 2009, Oliver and James have toured around with it, promoting the exhibition in different cities and countries. They also attended “A Celebration of Harry Potter” in Orlando among other Potter castmates in early 2014.
Oliver and James are well known philanthropists. They planted trees at the National Forest in Leicestershire, where birch and ash wood that helped make the Harry Potter broomsticks was replanted by the boys. They both took part in the football tournament known as the Celebrity World Cup Soccer Six alongside other celebrity sports fans. They are both part of Vigin Money Money Giving drive. Oliver focused on raising money for RNLI lifeguards.
The twins’ biggest charity is Helping Harry Help Others, in memory of an 11-year-old boy named Harry Moseley who the twins always visited when he was hospitalized. Moseley lost a four-year battle with brain cancer. Oliver and James took part in a skydive for Cancer Research UK in Australia in his memory and to raise money for the charity. They wear the charity’s bracelets on a daily basis.
Oliver also supports the charities WellChild, Teenage Cancer Trust, and Great Ormond Street.
Oliver is one of the most connected member of the entire Harry Potter cast, being an active Twitter user with an interactive website, various video blogs, a travel blog, a line of products, and various competitions that he hosts. Oliver and James participated in the beta testing of Sprkle: Watch The Stars, a website where celebrities video blog. You can watch some of those videos below. Oliver expressed an interest in screenwriting and playwriting in a newspaper article done when he and James were promoting the Singapore stop of Harry Potter: The Exhibition. Oliver has a fantastic website that is interactive with fans called JOP World. He dedicates part of the site to his passion for travel and travel writing on JOP Global. Oliver writes in-depth stories about his trips to various parts of the world, and also travel blogging pieces where he reviews his experiences and recommends various things for future travelers.
He also blogs about general things in his life here, in the “Behind the Scenes” section. He continues to video blog on his site after his Sprkle days here. He also hosts a show called JOP TV, which fans can watch live when they air or here. He also hosts Caption Competitions and other fun interactive activities for fans here. He features the winners of his competitions on his Wall of Fame.
