Harry Potter vs. Twilight

Everybody knows the runaway success of Harry Potter and Twilight as book and movie franchises but as this infographic points out, vampires and wizards are now conquering the tourism industry too.

Harry Potter

Potter heads are bowled over when they visit the recently opened Harry Potter Studios, located at Leavesdon Studios in Hertfordshire, England for a number of reasons. These studios provided sets and locations for all eight movies and offer fans an exclusive insight into the movie production process as well as the chance to have a look at actual set pieces and props.

Highlights of the tour include The Great Hall and Professor Dumbledore’s intricately designed office.

Prior to its grand opening, fan sites including The Leaky Cauldron were treated to an all-access visit and gave glowing reports about the range of attractions on offer in the studios. Mugglenet also gives a good introduction to the tour, letting you know what to expect during your visit. Meanwhile, further inspiration can be gleaned from more Harry-mad websites such as Pottermore Insider as well as Danradcliffe.com and snitchseeker.com.

Twilight

Fans of the Twilight series are free to come to Forks and tour the places that feature in the books written by Stephanie Meyer. Literally – it doesn’t cost a dime. All they have to do is stop off at the Forks Chamber of Commerce Visitor Centre and get their hands on a free Twilight pack. The pack includes fun trivia tests from all four books as well as a Forks Twilight map to allow you to find the most famous locations.

Before you get to Forks however, it might be worth doing your research on fan sites including twilightlexicon – you’ll want to make sure that you cover all bases during your time in this corner of Washington. Other websites worth sinking your teeth into include bellaandedward.com, edwardandbella.net, hisgoldeneyes.com and intoxicated-twilight.com – great for Twilight travel tips as well as re-living great moments from the series.
