Being with Nerds on September 1

September 1, 2015: Waking up in time for my 9 a.m. class, I proudly donned a red tank top emblazened with the number “9 ¾.” I made it through two classes and lunch before I had my first interaction with a kindred spirit on campus. As I was sitting down for my English seminar class, a girl across the room noticed my shirt. She instantly grinned with excitement and called across the room, “Happy September 1!” She was the first and only person to understand what day it was, but that didn’t bother me. Just like Daedalus Diggle, I knew that if the Muggles around me knew what the day meant, they too would be rejoicing and reflecting on a magical journey.

Now, two years later, I am beyond excited to spend arguably the most important September 1 in the history of September 1s among people who appreciate the date’s significance. After patiently waiting and waiting… and waiting, MuggleNet Live!: Nineteen Years Later is only a few months away. I know it sounds mushy, but I siriusly can’t wait to be around my fandom family.

I spend my days sitting at a Muggle job where people frequently pass my desk, glance at my collection of memorabilia, and ask questions like, “Who are the Weasleys?” With this dismal existence, it goes without saying that I would Apparate on the spot just to be around people who get me on a magical level and can finish my nerdy sentences.

Where will you be on September 1? I’ll be sitting on the Hogwarts Express with my 15th butterbeer of the night (because it’s unlimited butterbeer for the event!) and singing “Hoggy Warty Hogwarts” at the top of my lungs.

I was 9 years old when I discovered the magic that is “Harry Potter.” I am a proud Hufflepuff and exceedingly good at eating, reading, being sarcastic, and over-thinking small tasks. Since I spent too much time worrying about the correct way to write this bio, this is all I was able to come up with before the deadline.
