Betsy says...
I love the series of books. It's the only way to really get to know the characters. But Jo takes it a step further. Not only has she created an incredible cast of characters - she's created an entire parallel world. A wonderful tapestry of fascinating people, places and creatures, but yet one based on a foundation of ideas and principles with which we can all relate. Thank you, Jo, for giving us this incredible place to visit.

Sheri, 18, Ohio says...
Jo Rowling is such an amazing person. First off, she has the most incredible imagination! From all I've seen, she is so down-to-earth. She has a great sense of humor, which of course, comes out beautifully in her books. What's not to love about her? I love you, Jo! Thanks for being your awesome self!

Ginny says...
I love Jo Rowling because she is not only a great role model for girls, but she has worked so hard to get where she is and that shows everyone what hard work can do. She worked through all kinds of troubles for Harry to come out of his closet for us to meet and we've fallen in love with him. Through these stories she has given her readers (especially teens and pre-teens) a way to stay off the streets and keep them reading. I started reading these books when I was 10 and I'm still reading them 7 years later. She's not stuck up in any sense of the word and is very gracious to her fans. That's why I love Jo.

Ashleigh says...
Jo has such a vivid imagination. She brings joy and wonder into an otherwise normal world. Also, she encourages kids to read by making her stories engaging and entertaining. I respect her for her work. Also, the Harry Potter books have given me confidence in my life. They have taught me to trust myself and have good friends by my side. THANK YOU SO MUCH JO!

Samantha says...
Jo is... simply brilliant, there's not any more I can say. Aa for the media, the ones who trash her a) have probably never read the books, b) base most of their criticism on weak evidence, and c) are sooooooo jealous of her. But still... NEVER-INSULT-JKR-IN-FRONT-OF-ME! Jo's girl, through and through.

Maggie says...
I love Jo because she is such an inspiration. Her story shows that anyone with a good story to tell can become a writer; you don't need the right connections or anything like that. I think her messages of exceptance, courage, and loyalty to friends are so important and really what everyone no matter what their age is needs to learn.

Michelle, Baltimore, says...
I am an English teacher for students with special needs, most of which are years behind in reading- if they can read at all. I love Jo because of the joy she brings my students. As a reward for good behavior, I often read parts of Harry Potter to my students. They loved it, which is a lot of children who hate to read and feel that books just prove they are stupid. One of my children, an eighth grade and reads on a kindergarten level said he wanted to learn to read so that I can read Harry Potter along with him? I love Jo because she has made reading fun again for so many people.

Mabel says...
I just wanted to tell you that I am obssesed with Harry Potter. I am literally obssesed. I am a girl with TS. I can't help being obsessive because of my neurological problem but you must know that I couldn't have found a better thing to be obssesed about. Harry Potter is my motivation. I have noticed that I live my life around what Harry's next step will be. I have no idea what I will do once book 7 is out and read. I will probably just read them until I die. I wanted to thank you for your wonderful gift to us. God bless your talented hands and may your life be filled with wonderful stories to tell.

Katie, 14, Canada says...
I love Jo because she writes such magnificent stories, but also because she handles fame so well. She seems like a genuinely nice person to meet and treats her fans with total respect.

Sofia, 15, Connecticut says...
I love Jo because she uses her excellent writing skills to make powerful statements about friendship, love, sacrifice and good and evil- all of which can benefit our troubled world. The Harry Potter books have the power to move readers all over the world.

Erica says...
I love JKR because, not only is she a strong, intelligent, funny, and brilliant woman, she also has great fashion sense!

Ashley says...
The thing I love most about Jo is that, despite the immense amount of criticism her books have recieved (often by those who haven't read them) she continues to write the books she wants to write, no matter what anyone does to deter her. You go, Jo!

Sarah says...
I love you because you are a funny, intelligent, and moral role model. You receive so much press attention, yet you keep yourself above the tabloid problems. You gave me Hermione, the first herione I knew that was like ME: more intelligent than pretty. To have her means worlds to me.

Liz says...
JK has made such a difference in my life. If it wasn't for her I wouldn't be an avid reader or writer. I have learned to analyze literature well and HP makes me the unique person that I am today. Because of her books I have somewhere to go when I'm frustrated, sad, or lonely. Thank you, Jo, I do not know what I would do without you.

Magdalen says...
I love Jo because she can send shivers down my spine with the simplest of words. I love Jo because she is probably the only person in the world who can kill off someone I love and still make me convulse with laughter. You have changed my life: thank you.

Sabine, 14, Seattle says...
I love Jo for being a creative spirit, for following her heart and dreams. For her sense of humor, laugh, and smile. For encouraging us and inspiring us to be strong and to express ourselves with words. I thank her for using and spreading her gift throughout the world.

Isabelle says...
I like Jo because she has managed to write a book that has united people of all different ages and nationalities. She has also inspired me (and countless other people) to write my own stories. These books have made an important difference in my life.

Kathy says...
I suppose, from an adult and "nana" standpoint, I have such a sense of gratitude for J. K. Rowling as she has given a whole generation, and countless generations to come, a reason to read, and as a consequence, become literate, thoughtful, and articulate adults despite the level of education achieved. For my own personal reasons, I love her for her ability to maintain a complicated story line, developing characters to the point they become personal to us, and allowing us to care about them, good or bad. There are so many lessons to be learned in life, and thanks to J. K. Rowling, these questions are becoming familiar to our youth.

Joelle says...
There are no words in any lanugauge that can help us express how thankful we are that there are some brilliant people in the world that make literature for kids and adults something to get excited about. So I will just say thank you.

Laura says...
I absolutely love Jo Rowling because she's so complex in her writing. The Harry Potter series is carefully planned out, every detail matches. She's fastidious in her details, and I think that's very important. She doesn't water down tough topics like death and torture and violence. She treats all of her readers like adults- which many of them are. She's amazing because she's able to keep someone's attention for so long. Through her books, numerous fansites and fanclubs have emerged, and such an underground following is unprecedented in the literary community. To sum it all up- I love Jo because she's original!

Helene, 40, New Jersey says...
Because of her courage, her strength, and her heart-
For all that she's done to give readers a start-
For bringing great joy to both young and the old-
For characters brave, innovative, and bold.
For living and giving, at home, on the go-
For all this and more; That's why I love Jo.

Kelsey, 15, Michigan says...
I love Jo because she is a great Role Model for people of any age. She seems like an amazing person, and someone who anyone can relate too. Jo, you are amazing, and you have inspired me to do things I would never imagine I would ever do. Thank You!

Bethany, 15, Ohio says...
She put her love of writing before everything else even though there was a possiblity that it wuld not work out. I would like to thank her for all of her hard work that has inspired so many, none so much as myself. She is not only an amazing author, but an amazing individual. Thank you Jo, for putting the fight back in those that thought the battle was lost.

Kathlyn, 13, MO says...
Well, I have no "Harry Potter got me through a difficult time," or "Harry Potter taught me how reading can be fun" story (not that those are bad things). I love Jo because she inspires me to be the best writer I can be.

Elizabeth, 19, Connecticut says...
I love Jo. She's an excellent writer. She never lets the fame get to her head, and the way she deals with all that pressure is incredibly admirable. She never cracks. She has so much respect for her fans, but at the same time, she doesn't bow to our wills, give us free information, or change the books based on our input to make them more popular (if that's even possible!. Most of all, she's doing something she loves, and sharing it with us!

Heather, 17, Texas...
I love Jo because she is funny (which is very obvious in the books) and she was amazing enough to create the most amazing book series of ALL TIME! Anyone that has the imagination to create this books must truly be an amazing person. The Harry Potter books have inspired me to be a good person with virtues. I know now what it means to be loyal and brave. I truly feel that I am a better person because of the Harry Potter books.

Ranea, 25, says...
I love Jo for her ability to catch the readers of her books, and keep them going to the last page with her drama, comedy, and use of language, no matter the age of the reader.

Meaghan says...
Jo isn't like many celebrities who need expensive things and likes the media surrounding her. She is a normal person who writes extremely well and with a bit more money. Harry Potter has changed me greatly and I'm proud to be a Harry Potter fan. Thanks, Jo.

Carmen says...
Because she made it possible for me to forget all my problems with her writing. Because just like Luna said, it was like having friends. The wait for book 7 is the only thing that keeps me going sometimes. And that is quite an achievement.

James...
I love Jo because she wrote Harry Potter. And the reason I like Harry Potter is that she created an original world, and there is a mix of adventure and humor, both intertwined. Also, Jo hasn't been affected by the amount of publicity at all, which most people are.

Caitlin, 18, says...
My name is Caitlin, I am 18 years old. One of the reasons I love Jo is that she is so humble. She doesn't go around flaunting her status, instead she works very hard to help charities and other help organizations. I also love how cryptic and mysterious she can be. I have to admit though sometimes I do get frustrated with it, but over all I love a good intrigue.

Margaret, 14, Indiana
I love Jo for many reasons that other people do: she's caring, committed, and really funny. She has affected so many people in ways she doesn't realize. When I started a new school, I met two of my best friends by talking about Harry with them. Three years later, we're going our separate ways but we're still tight. I'm glad her books were able to be so interesting that I could meet people by talking about them. So Jo, thank you for everything!

Kelly, 15, says...
Jo, you have always been a huge inspiration to me. Not only are you brilliant, but you are kind and funny and you encompass all the qualties a role model should have. The Harry Potter books have been a huge part of my life from day one, and I have you to thank for all those hours reading Harry Potter when I should have been studying social studies or another equally worthless subject

Christine, 17, California says...
I love and have the greatest respect for Jo Rowling because she changed my life. Through her, I have found a series that I can completely throw myself into and be passionate about. Through her, I found my inspiration to keep on writing. Through her, I met some of my best friends. No one, not even Jo, can ever truly understand what Harry Potter means to the fans, but her books have changed my life for the better and I am eternally grateful. A million thank-yous, Jo!

Lori says...
I love Jo because she is an inspiration. I started reading the series seven years ago, when I was thirteen, and have re-read the books many times since then! I honestly don't think I would be as individual as I am today if it weren't for the series. Harry Potter taught me to develop my own sense of self and to do what makes me happy, no matter what anyone else thinks. Jo supports so many worthwhile causes and reminds everyone to use their imagination once in a while! She truly is the greatest writer ever!

Kelly, Oregon says...
I love Jo because she's a really good writer. It's cool the way she implies the whole story and the history behind the story. What the books mean to me is that you can't do anything by doing nothing. Harry couldn't 'save the day' without action.
