Claire, 12, England says...
Jo rocks because she can look after her children and write Harry Potter at the same time! She got loads of kids into reading as well! I was eight when I first got into this series, and I can't imagine a world without the books.
Kelly says...
I love Jo becasue she is an independent thinker who never gives up. Even though people told her Harry Potter would never make it, she kept going, and now look at her! I also love the fact that she writes what she wants, and doesn't care what her fans think...it really is her book.
Amy, 18, Ohio says...
I love Jo because she makes me laugh. Ever since my dad became sick and died late last year I have been feeling down and felt like I would never laugh again. Reading the Harry Potter books have so many subtle things that just make me giggle that I can't help feeling just a little better reading and enjoying them. Also the books have given my mom and I an opportunity to enjoy something together. Thank you Jo, you are great!
Olivia says...
Her writing style is extremely readable, her theme is sweepingly epic, and she manages to keep all the secrets that need to be kept, no matter how much she says. She's a talent.
Michael, 19, New York says...
I love Jo not just because she is the best author of our time, but she is also one of the greatest people of our time, she's down to earth and cares so much for her fans and people in general. That is why I love Jo.
Aimee says...
Jo has created a pensive for all of us to fall into. In addition to her mind-boggling books, she has teased and thrilled us in between the times with her hints and clues on jkrowling.com. Thank you Jo!
Caity says...
I love Jo because she knows her mind and isn't afraid to let her opinion be known.
Hollye, 28, Oklahoma says...
Many people credit Jo with bringing joy back into children's literature. We have seen an enormous increase in children wishing to spend time with Harry, Ron and Hermione in the written word over playing video games or watching TV. I have no children (yet), but I have experienced a renewal in my joy for the written word and can not wait to share my thirst for literature (and Potter) with my children at bedtime. Thank you Jo, for not only bringing magic to kids, but to us adults as well!
Sara, 30, says...
She inspired my son to read. (His hardbacks are tattered)
She inspired me to write. (Not Harry-related)
She is so wonderful and down to earth, and she has used her 'soap box' to speak out on issues that bother her.
And she tries to help.
Marge says...
I like Miss Jo Rowling because she keeps me in suspense with her books. I like the fact that Harry and his friends are such good friends despite what that have gone through. The writing is great, the books are funny, and I just like the fact that after all this time, there is still magic in the books. I hope Harry and his friends succeed against Lord Voldermort and survive. The last book is full of hope, excitement and adventure. Way to go!
Alanna, 14, USA says...
Rowling is an inspiration. She has such creativity; it is a blessing she shares it! She is so dedicated. I have such respect for her. The Potter books are the biggest part of my life; I'd be incomplete without them. Jo is the most fantastic person in the universe.
Kimberly, 16, Philippines says...
I love Jo because she created such an unforgettable character that goes by the name of Harry Potter. Aside from that, I love her because she's not afraid to stand up for what she believes in. Anyway, we all know how complicated her life was before HP and how she made it through all those hardships. Yes, she made it through and I love her for that. It shows that she is a very strong woman who doesn't give up easily. She's such an inspiration.
Jason, Age 24, Ohio says...
You have constructed a breathtaking world that reflects both the glory and depravity of mankind. Beyond being a fantastic yarn that has reawakened a love of literature in children of all ages, these books offer us insights into who we are and what we can become.
Idunn says...
I love Jo because 4-5 years ago I moved to a new city, and had no friends. I read the first book over and over again, and especially studied Hermione. Harry and Ron didn't like her in the beginning, so she had no friends either. Then everything was turned over, and we saw her good sides, and many people started to like her. That's exactly what happened to me, and I was just as nerdy as her.
Phil, 29, Connecticut says...
I've rewritten these words half-a-dozen times, but better to simply say: Jo tells the truth about loss. Some things, once gone, can never truly be replaced; I deeply admire how, amidst laughter and adventure, she always reminds us of that truth from whence springs all tragedy -- and all love. Thanks, Jo.
Katie says...
I love Jo because she helped me love reading. I used to hate reading, and would only read if I had to. Then my mom bought the Harry Potter books. I was in heaven. I loved them, and I learned to love reading. Thank-you, Jo. Thank-you for inspiring me, and thank-you for making my life so much richer.
Debbie says...
Jo is an inspiration because she uses her new found wealth and influence for philanthropy. I love Jo's sense of humor, her tantalizing hiding of clues, and she has influenced me to read other children's classics that I didn't read as a child.
Jennifer, 29, says...
I love Jo for many heartfelt reasons. I began reading Harry Potter while undergoing Chemotherapy in 2000. There were many nights spent sick from the treatment. Harry was my escape from fear. I couldn't in a lifetime tell Jo how much I love and appreciate the gift that is Harry.
Thomas says...
Jo's books are amazing primarily because, of all the authors of the last century or more, no-one has had a better grasp on writing such multitudes of endearing and distinct characters than Ms. Rowling has.
Tania, 39, says...
I think that Jo has made reading fun again for so many people of all ages. The Harry Potter books may be in the children's section, but I (age 39) enjoy them as much or more than my son (age 9). It has given us an opportunity to take a break from the real world and have fun! The midnight party for HBP was a great chance for my son and I to do something special together and a chance to meet wonderful people of all ages who share a love of great books.
Alex, 21, England says...
One of the main reasons I love Jo, besides her formidable imagination, is her ability not to tear her hair out when fans and interviewers alike twist her words to their own purposes. How is it possible not to love somebody who has the patience of a saint?
Holly says...
Jo Rowling is one of the most amazing writers I know. I love her style, her uniqueness, and humor within her writing. Jo always has a serious side, but funny side, and a side that every child, teenager, and adult can relate to. Her books are simply amazing, and I know that I will forever love her writing, whether she writes under JK Rowling or another name. I hope to read more and more of her writing, because she is truly unique.
Abhijit, 19, India says...
I love you because you have tought me the importance of my parents and the role they play in my life.
Krista says...
Ever since Kindergarten I've been a big fan of reading, but that can't compare to how much I like it now that Jo?s books have entered my life. Her writing inspired me to write novels of my own. Thanks, Jo, for your wonderful books!
Janelle, 17, Australia says...
Jo is a true insipiration to me. She shows the world never to give up on what you believe in, through facing financial and emotional hardship, and showing girls everywhere that its okay to be exactly how you are, skinny, fat, short or tall. Jo, You are my role model.
Karen says...
Jo, your novels make me laugh, cry, then laugh again. They make me mad and then happy, every range of emotion. Mostly, you have captured not only the soul of teenagers, but put it together in a way to motivate them, inspire them and entertain them all at once.
Katy says...
I love Jo because she is a fantastic author and the work she does for charity and her contribution is astounding. The books manage to suck me in from the first page. I'm a die hard potter fan...and I'd have it no other way.
Lucy, 15, says...
Jo has always been an inspiration to me, and her books have given me a place to escape to when I'm feeling down. But more importantly, she started the main love affair of my life - my obsession with Remus Lupin - and has made me happy to know that even Harry Potter hadn't properly gone out with somone until he was 16! Thanks Jo, you're amazing.
Aisling says...
Well the reason that I love Jo so much is that she puts so much details into her books. I like nothing better then to sit back, relax and allow myself to be drawn into the fictional world she has created. She puts in so much hard work into the books and I really appreciate that as I am sure other fans do as well!
Fan, 23, France says...
I do love Jo because she stands firm against things that are really important to her in a motherly way. She is definitly so funny and so imaginative. Her values are so good (family, children health, girls' mind...). And she makes me travel to another world.
Mitchell says...
Her originality is expounded in her fantastical creations,
Her famous and wonderful stories spread across all known nations,
We love Jo because she puts a spark into all our lives,
And we're all hoping that in the end Harry will survive!
Todd says...
In short, her wit and emotive capabilities. I love reading anything she says, because you know that there will be a point to it. She doesn't say anything that she doesn't mean (sarcasm excempted). I love reading her books, because it takes me away from my own world. Harry Potter; the cure for any illness.
Sarah, 16, New York says...
I love Jo because she opened something new for readers like me who don't always like fantasy or children's novels, but love getting thrown into a fascinating new environment. Harry Potter wasn't the first book I ever read or liked, but it was the first that I read that made me think and love it! I love Jo for making me realize how much I loved reading AND thinking.
Teresa says...
I love Jo because she is a role model for teen girls. She has made it clear that it
is ok to be smart. That you should not try and hide it. I feel like the character of
Hermione was written especially for me, because I see so much of myself in her. She
like Jo is strong-willed, smart and not afraid to show it. Jo has given me the
courage to show my strength of will, and intelligence. The HP books are number one
in my book because of this.
Merci Beaucoup Jo!!!!
Je t'aime
Tammy, 14, US says...
I love and appreciate Jo Rowling. She's an inspiration to all because she persevered
through her struggles and came out to be so much. HP smoothed my transition from small
paperbacks to big books with major plots and set me on a reading journey that
I'll never stop.
Jenna says...
Jo is kind, caring, and her books have helped me a lot. This year a lot of bad
things occurred in my life, but no matter how I felt, I could open those books and
forget what ever bad was happing. So I thank Jo, for everything she did, although
she may never know it.
Morgan, South Florida says...
I love Jo so much because she created a world I always dreamed existed. Whenever something tough would be going on in my
life I could read the Harry Potter books and just lose track of everything. If it
wasn't for her I don't know what I would be doing.
Christina, 14, Florida says...
I love Jo for a variety of reasons. First, I admire her for her strength and perseverance. Writing those immense books is a task I cannot simply imagine, especially when she was a single mother on welfare. Second, even though she is now rich and famous, she still seems to be the same down-to-earth woman who first invented Harry on a train ride.
Sarah says...
Why do I love Jo? Because she's created hype about reading like few other authors
have ever been able to do. Because she's created a world so fantastic and yet so
close to the real world at the same time. Because she's created something that will
probably last generations.
Mally says...
Jo is amazing. She got millions of kids (and adults) into reading. With her creation, there were suddenly children camping outside bookstores, desperate for the new book. There’s definitely some magic in that.
Sukhada, 14, India says...
I love her for creating the Harry Potter series, which has been a huge source of entertainment for me, and for so many people all over the world. Thanks for making kids want to read.
Cassandra says...
I love that Jo is so inspiring. If it weren't for her, I wouldn't have started
writing. If it weren't for her, I wouldn't aspire to be an author and be planning to
spend my summer vacation working on a story.
Thank you Jo. You've made all the difference to everybody.
Sarah says...
First, because Jo has a great sense of humor, obvious intelligence, and ability to handle her amazing success with both. Her integrity comes through in her writing and her amazing philanthropy. As a long-time bookseller, I watched children reading dull, boring, repetitive books
for years. In 100 years, she will get credit for the literacy of a full generation of readers. Children picking up books to read for fun is a wonderful thing. When those books are also well-written and challenging, the readers benefit. I can't wait to see book 7, as well as her next creations. Jo is an amazing author, and a top human being!
