Ellen, 15, New York says...
I love Jo because she created a world for me to escape to and I know Harry will always be there for me no matter what. She also taught me so much about bravery and friendship and I wouldn't be the same person today if it wasn't for her. I love Jo because she put her childhood friend's car into her book.

Helen, 16, Boston says...
I love Jo because she put her childhood friend's car into her book.
Because she can't find paper in Edinburgh.
Because every name she uses has a special meaning and an imporant history.
Because doesn't try to be someone shes not.
Because I know she is beautiful even though I have never met her.
Because she created Harry Potter
Harry Potter is my escape, my one true love, and my religion
It's one of the only things the world has ever been able to share

Allison, British Columbia Canada, says...
I like Jo because she can write a book for a wide various of age groups, from 5 years to 100 years and still be able tp enjoy it equally. The Harry Potter series is a salvation, a place where you can kick back, relax and be away from the judging world, while taking adventures with your favourite "trio". Thanks again Jo!

James says...
I grew up in the video game generation. Jumping from Mario and Zelda to Voltron and GIJoe on television, though I could easily, I never read. Ever. My parents had read to me, and I knew the Lord Of The Rings trilogy front to back, but I never went out of my way to read books. Then I read Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. Now I'm studying English/American Lit at Bethany College, en route to become a High School Teacher, reading everything out there. From Paolini to Hemingway. Guess I owe Jo a thanks, eh?

Brittany, 12, Kentucky, says...
She's a great writer, you think, and she's inspirational. Her words made my future. I want to cure cancer. Her life inspired my career. I love you Jo!

Steph says...
I love Jo because she is an inspiration to girls(and boys) and shows us that through hard work and dedication we all can achieve our dreams, no matter what has happened to us in the past or where we started out. I'm so glad she showed our generation that, yes, it is fun to read. Thank you Jo!

Brittany, 16, says...
Not only has she created such a massively interactive environment for her fans, but she regularly contributes to it! It just goes to show how much of a humble, intelligent person she is! Plus, she totally gives us blondes (or at least the ones on the inside) a good name.

Theresa, 17, says...
I love Jo because she has created an entire world to retreat to. I am seventeen and I know that when ever I have a bad day I can just pick up a Harry Potter book and be somewhere else until I feel better. It is an amazing gift that she has given all of us who are lucky enough to know her work. Thank you, Jo, for everything.

Kelly says...
Because she is such an inspiration to single mothers like myself. I applaud her for being the kind of woman I now aspire to be. I love the books because for a few hours a week, I can curl up under a blanket with my son and lose ourselves in a glorious story that allows me to see the world the same way he see's it.

Katie says...
A friend insisted that I read Sorcerer's Stone. I was skeptical, after all this was a children's book, I was 24 and did not read for pleasure. I caught the reading bug. I read the remaining Harry books and have branched out. I credit Jo for teaching me that reading can be wonderful!

Lynn says...
I love Jo because she is bright, female, and vainly takes the rest of us in. The importance of brain over body image is a core value she not only voices, but models through her characters. Believing in girls as I do, I must applaud Jo -- because bright is beautiful!

Gina, Georgia, says...
JK Rowling has made a profound impact on me. She is one of the most down-to-earth, humorous people I know, for often it feels like I know her just through her writing. She's given plentifully to her fans through HP, and continues to give with her shining personality.

Kathryn, 17, says...
I love Jo because she has shown everyone that a person does not have to be immediately successful. That is especially comforting to me because I plan on majoring in Creative Writing in college, and will most likely fail many times before I can even get someone to look at my work, much less to consider publishing it.

Audrey, 19, Illinois, says...
Ron Weasley. (Loyal AND dishy!) The Marauder's Map. (And those cunning Marauders!) Quidditch. (Truly the only sport I enjoy!) Dudley's tail. (Eleven years' worth of venegence!) Dumbledore's passwords. (Lemon sherbet anyone?) And so, so much more! Thank you for opening up this brilliant world to all of us, Jo, with your fantastic creativity. You are truly a special person, and an influence on my life!

Jorene says...
Jo has done something that I don't think any other author has- written a series that gives perfect strangers of every age something in common. From 8 year old children to parents who get just as excited about the books (I must have my own copies, I can't wait for my daughter to finish hers) to elderly people reading them to "see what all the fuss is about." I would love to thank her for all the wonderful conversations and fun I've had with my teenage daughter because of Harry Potter.

Caitlin says...
She always seems to care about the fans. She knows our jokes and lingo. I think the fact that she comes to mugglenet is proof that she knows her fan base and is willing to try to be a part of it. I do not know of another author who is that in tune with their fans. Go, Jo!

Ben says...
Why I love Jo is the fact that she has given everbody of all ages a role model. Harry Potter can teach you to live your live with loyalty, wisdom, hard work, friendship, ambition, bravery and love. Anybody would be proud to live a life with these virtues. Thank you, Jo.

Kaela, 13 , Arizona, says...
I can hardly express in words how I like Jo. I don't know how she writes these books, she can't be human. I don't think anyone will EVER again be able to give me the joy and inspiration that she has given me. I remember that while I was reading the 6th book I got so excited that I got sick...my mom took my book, and then I cried. Before I finish typing this letter I just want to say that if I ever me Jo I will walk up to her and say, Hi my name is Kaela (last name), can I give you a hug?!

Kristen, 13, says...
Jo is my idol. The first time I picked up one of her Harry Potter books, I fell in love with reading and writing. I'd have to say that Jo is the best author that has so far hit this world so far. Her lovely books mean a bucket of gold, and perhaps a bit more, to me. They have actually changed my life, getting me motivated to use my imagination. I couldn't ask for anything more in my life. Just a Harry Potter book and a light to read by.

Vanessa says...
I think that the word 'love' isn't special enough for Jo. However, I have no choice but to stick with it since there isn?t another word like it. I love Jo because she takes a stance on world wide issues and isn?t afraid to express her mind.

Margalot says...
I love Jo because she filled the void in my life left by the absence of new Lord of the Rings movies. I also want to thank her for providing the inspiration for my own writing, in the form of fanfiction, something even Tolkien was unable to achieve. Thank you, Jo.

Paige, 16, New Jersey, says...
I love Jo. She's smart & she lets her opinion be heard. She gives so much to her fans, MS research & various charities. Her books are always there to take my mind off of the craziness that revolves around being a muggle teenager. Thanks for everything, Jo.

Brian says...
Mrs. Jo Rowling: You are an amazing human being, full of inspiration, hope, humor, and most importantly, love. Countless people, myself included, owe Harry Potter at least some of the credit for getting us through adolescence. You deserve all of the blessings you have, and more! Thank you so much!

Eriana, New York, says...
I started reading the HP series in 4th grade, I fell in love with all of them right away. I like the way JK writes. It can be funny at times... okay a lot of times but then you read the way she protrays Harry's emotions at the given time and you can just tell she's brilliant. People make fun of me for liking her and her books but I don't care. She has changed the lives of every kid everywhere who have read atleast ONE of her books. I admire her admire her and I can't wait till number SEVEN comes out!

Amanda, 18, USA, says...
She is such an inspiration to me (and I'm sure I'm not the only one)! She worked hard and persisted in achieving her dream, and has succeeded with flying colors! I believe she sets a great example for everyone with big dreams and high aspirations.

Grace says...
I love Jo because she has a brilliant imagination. She created an entire world. I feel that this is a huge gift for anyone who reads like I do. She creates an escape for all who need it. We love you, Jo! Can't wait for book 7!

Cindy says...
I love Jo because she has that special way with words only writers have. It charms you into a slight obsession! I think she of course has humor, talent, style, originality, and a true sense of fun and righteousness. Her books mean alot to me because they firstly introduced me to more literature! I found that very interesting when I had to write a paper. I think these books mean so much to everyone that reads them. I find it very kind she is so open to her fans and is so how do I say fuzzy-like?She seems to have a very warm personality which is why I like her writing even more. I am happy I stumbled across these books from my youth because they have stayed with me!

Lindy, 52, says...
Jo has singlehandedly introduced literary criticism to a new generation. I have heard theories at Girl Scout camp, school recess, at midnight parties for the new books, and at adult gatherings too. Foreshadowing, character analysis, mythological references, themes, and conflict. Best of all is the message: Take responsibility, make wise choices, and trust and rely on your friends. I am 52, and don't know whether to read the last Harry Potter book slowly to make it last, or fast to find out what I dearly want to know.

Andrea, 14, Las Vegas, says...
Jo's my idol because of how hard-working she is and all the effort she puts into whatever she does. She's so charasmatic as are her characters. I'm still puzzled by the fact that she manages to be so down-to-earth when fame and glory surround her. I greatly appreciate the fact that she created Harry Potter (in general) because it is the only thing standing between myself and depression. I swear, my friends wish that I had never heard of The-Boy-Who-Lived or The-Man-Who-Let-The-Boy-Live.

Brian, 16, UK, says...
Jo is the most honest, kind and loved author of her time. Her books are amazing and her personality is exactly the same, such a brilliant person should do more interviews! Well done in achieving everything you have Jo; keep it up!

Kristie says...
I love Jo because she's a magnificent writer and has done so much to help people all over the world. She's brought happiness and joy into my life by writing Harry Potter. Harry Potter is almost everything to me; I spend all my time writing, reading, or talking about it! J. K. Rowling, thank you SO much!

Alison, Las Vegas, says...
I love that she is proof that someone can be ridiculously rich and at the same time, be ridiculously hilarious.

Ayla says...
Even though she's world famous, she's down to Earth. She's not afraid to get ambushed by dozens of fans either.

Sarah says...
She's wonderfully unassuming. She knows just what the Harry Potter universe should be, and creates it such. Her unwillingness to submit to critics or to yield to the demands of others ensures that the world she creates is hers alone. And the most beautiful part is that she shares it with all of us.

Saramis says...
I always loved to write, but seeing Jo's passion for it really inspired me, as did the complex characters. I aspire to have her dedication and creativity.

Torey says...
JK Rowling has really been a blessing in my life. Being an avid reader for all of my childhood, picking up Harry Potter was something special. The books always allow me to escape from everything and go into a world where anything is possible, whether it is my first, fourth, or twentieth read of the series. Thank you Jo. Your inspiration has been beneficial to us all.

Rachel says...
I love Jo because she is such a wonderful role model. If she hadn't persisted in pursuing publication, we may never have had the chance to meet Harry and his gang. She's a great example of how with enough desire and perseverance, we can achieve our greatest dreams. Thank you Jo, for being an inspiration to children (and children at heart) everywhere.

Chana says...
She has experienced so much, so much of what her readers have experienced. She can now truly relate to those suffering from poverty, or even those with money to spare. I love how she stayed normal even after becoming incredibly rich and famous, and how she has stayed true to her morals, opinions, and ideals. Joanne Kathleen Rowling is an example to all those who strive to succeed in their work and must continue on amidst struggle. Thank you, JK Rowling, for being a truly inspiring individual.

Catherine says...
I love Jo because, even after all her success, she is grounded, modest and caring, and also because she wrote the "For Girls Only, Probably..." article, which touched my heart and made me feel, for the first time in my life, that it doesn't matter how much I weigh.

Tina says...
I love Jo Rowling because she wrote Harry Potter, the most fantastic books I have ever read. Her writting style is witty and intriguing. She as a person is also amazing. She does not give away her plot. She answers questions (mostly) to your satisfaction without telling you anything. She is Brilliant.
