The Hogicans (pronounced hog - eh - kins) represent those within the Wizarding World who possess a strong work ethic and have had previous administrative or leadership experience. These candidates are all very wise and care for those in the Wizarding World with a passion like no other. Look at who's running and see what they're up to.

Kingsley Shacklebolt

Biography: Kingsley Shacklebolt, current Minister for Magic, is widely praised for revolutionizing the Ministry after the fall of Lord Voldemort. Two of his many accolades include the removal of Dementors from guarding the wizard prison Azkaban and the appointment of Harry Potter as head of the Auror department. Shacklebolt was a quiet, yet instrumental figure in the downfall of Lord Voldemort, serving as a key member of the Order of the Phoenix, personal guard to the Muggle Prime Minister and dueling the Dark Lord himself in the famous Battle of Hogwarts. Equal rights for Muggles and Wizards has always been a focal point of his platform. There is not a more qualified individual to keep this post.

Top Stances (these were sent in from the candidate's campaign manager, so you may not want to believe everything you see!):

  • Security: Having already served as Minister of Magic, Kingsley knows what it takes to continue governing the Wizarding World. His top priority will be to continue protecting Witches and Wizards from dark magic. He'll still enforce and expand his security plans to make sure that there will never be attacks on the innocent.
  • Economy: Kingsley's next term as Minister will include the creation of a 21st century economic plan. It will put the Wizarding World above the United States and the United Kingdom's econmic strategies and establish the Wizarding World as THE financially stable government of the world.
  • Poverty: While walking through the streets of Diagon Alley or the outskirts of Hogsmeade, you may come across a poor family or two who are looking for an extra galleon or two. Kingsley is no stranger to these families, and his next term as Minister will include new programs and job opportunities for those with low to no income.
  • Protecting our World: Whenever you hop on a train as you travel, you can't help but notice the beautiful landscapes of the Wizarding World. The unfortunate reality of today's generation is that development is more common than ever. Kingsley plans to protect our beautiful rural areas by having the government purchase the land and preserve it forever.
  • Education: Kingsley believes that education is the single most important development aspect of a Wizard or Witch's life. That's why he'll be closely working with Hogwarts, Beauxbaton, and Durmstrang to ensure that all of their education programs are providing the highest level of education possible.

Horace Slughorn (Eliminated)

Biography: Fighting against the will of his friends and fellow Slytherin classmates during the Wizarding World's most troubling times is a trait of Horace Slughorn's that is not to be dismissed. Slughorn taught Potions at Hogwarts for more than 40 years, turning out some of our society's most accomplished students. Unlike most Slytherins, Horace saw the best of qualities in those he taught, regardless of bloodline. He even created a selective club for those he prized above the rest. The man spent many years in hiding before returning to Hogwarts at the request of Albus Dumbledore, in order to ensure that those in his former Slytherin class would not pressure him into becoming a dreaded Death Eater. Slughorn was instrumental in uniting all four Houses in the famous Battle of Hogwarts, and even dueled with Lord Voldemort himself. It's these examples of managing power, standing on his own, having an eye for talent in surrounding himself with the best witches and wizards, and not being tempted by evil, that make Horace the perfect candidate for Minister of Magic.

Minerva McGonagall (Eliminated)

Biography: When it comes to teaching, Minerva McGonagall is the cream of the crop. She has taught the art of Transfiguration (being a certified Animagus herself) since 1956 at Hogwarts. Her no-nonsense teaching skills helped her to become the Head of Gryffindor House, Deputy Headmistress and eventually Headmistress of Hogwarts. She assumed the latter position temporarily when Albus Dumbledore was removed from his post after mysterious snake attacks befell the school and more permanently after Dumbledore's death. She was forced to step down when a Voldemort-controlled Ministry appointed Severus Snape to the position, but she reclaimed it after the fall of the Dark Lord. Even with Hogwarts facing much danger, Minerva was instrumental in the safety of all the students. She ensured all the under-age students escaped before the famous Battle of Hogwarts and then herself led the charge of those remaining, herself dueling Lord Voldemort. All of her time at Hogwarts has turned Minerva into one of the finest leaders and allows her the know-how to be the Minster.

Molly Weasley

Biography: Molly Weasley, the wife of Ministry official Arthur Weasley, is a caring and compassionate matriarch. She is the mother of seven children (eight if you count Harry Potter), having lost her son Fred in the famous Battle of Hogwarts. Molly is a very gifted witch whose magical abilities extend far beyond the home. She is well known for bringing about the demise of mass murderer Bellatrix Lestrange and was instrumental in providing security and comfort among other resources to the Order of the Phoenix. Her pre-established level of responsibility and ability to support many make her an ideal candidate for Minister.

Top Stances (these were sent in from the candidate's campaign manager, so you may not want to believe everything you see!):

  • Security: Who better to know the value of safety and protection than Molly Weasley, the mother of seven children? She was responsible for the security and wellbeing of the Order of the Phoenix during the second war with Voldemort and has fought against dark magic for most of her adult life. Molly, having lost a son to the evils of our world, will ensure the welfare of all witches and wizards to make the future safer for our children.
  • Economy: Molly knows the importance of keeping to a strict budget and not overspending. Raising seven children tests financial limits and one learns very quickly what is and is not a prudent purchase. Molly will work with the wizarding world's best financial advisors to ensure economic stability and a balanced budget.
  • Child Poverty & Disease: If there is one thing a mother's heart feels most for, it is children, especially those in less fortunate situations. Molly will work with leaders from around the world to rid it of the terrible plight that is poverty. As Minister, she will enlist the aid of the brightest at St. Mungo's to battle disease and enact legislation that will tackle these issues and work toward more sustainable living conditions in our world's most impoverished regions.
  • Environment: Molly believes strongly in environmental preservation and making living safe not only for witches and wizards but also the magical creatures that inhabit our world. As Minister, she will not allow the ecological failures of Muggles to be passed on to the wizarding community. Additionally, Molly will take a hard stance that the magical world does not exacerbate the problems currently faced by our Muggle friends.
  • Education: Is there anybody who understands the importance of education more than a mother? Molly is a teacher in her own right, having raised seven children. She strongly values the importance of Hogwarts and how it was instrumental in shaping the futures not only of her family, but of her as an individual. Molly will make certain education is at the forefront of her administration and that she seeks counsel from those of various acclaimed learning institutions abroad.
