Short biography: Born to Irish and Welsh parents on February 21, 1946, Alan Rickman attended the Chelsea College of Art to study to become a graphic artist. He then received a scholarship at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA), where he stayed for three years. While he was there, he won several acting awards, including the Emile Littler Prize, the Forbes Robertson Prize, and the Bancroft Gold Medal. His superb acting skills have made him a constant figure on the British stage since then. Although he has never married, he has been romantically involved with former CCA schoolmate, Rima Horton.
