Short biography: Born to a French teacher in a Paris suburb, Clemence Poesy started her acting career at age fourteen, when her father, Etienne Guichard, an actor, director, and playwright, gave her a role with two lines. At sixteen, she attended the University of Nanterre, and appeared in a number of French stage, film, and television productions. She landed her first English-speaking role as Mary I of Scotland in the BBC mini-series Gunpowder, Treason, and Plot. Filmography:
