Short biography: Born of Eastern European Jewish descent, Jason Isaacs didn't start out as an actor. In fact, he went to Bristol University to study law, a profession that would have fit in nicely with his white-collar siblings. His interest in theatre first sprung from his desire to "meet more girls," but as he got more and more involved with acting, he found comfort in playing a different person onstage. He promptly dropped his law studies and attended London's Central School of Speech and Drama. Ever since then, he has been widely recognized as a fantastic theatre, television, and film connoisseur. His wife, Emma Hewitt, went to school with him at the Central School of Speech and Drama, and is now an accomplished BBC documentary filmmaker. The couple have two daughters, Lily and Ruby.
