Goblet of Fire Fan Reviews

By Chiyo

The making of an imense, incredible book, is an incredible project. It is important; that we try to get as much of the book as we can into a 3 hour period, but still are careful of what we cut. The scenes that were cut from GOF were often some favorites, including the scene where the Veelas come out at the world cup. However; the most disappointing part of this film, was that Mike Newell [the director], seemed to assume, that if he moved the film along at a quick pace, with only the essential dialouge, his viewers would know what was happening.

Not so, as we zoom from the world cup taking place, to the dark mark being raised. However, I must say, my hat is off to the actors, visual effects team and makeup crew! Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson, are an incredible team of actors. Daniel most surprised me with his incredible crying. I swear, I cannot cry like that!! I was most surprised by Matthew Lewis [Neville Longbottom], who has improved greatly since the previous film [and here I cannot resist quoting his character: Sean: I don't see Harry coming up from the lake yet. Neville: Omigod! I killed Harry Potter!!*Harrry then flips into the air happily, and Neville relieves*], and newcomer Katie Leung, who [with no prior acting experience] made an impressive show.

SAnyway, back to the cutting room floor. I was indeed disappointed that Neville gave Harry the Gillyweed instead of Dobby, who I think is important to the story. So overall: Good Points: Good actors, great visual effects. Funny, snappy dialouge. Bad Points: [And here I quote a friend] "It was good, but moved so quickly there was no story." And so, overall, the movie was very good, but there still is a lot of stuff that shoulld be changed.
