Goblet of Fire Fan Reviews
By Melissa
I'm going to assume that everyone reading this review has already read the book, and I am therefore not going to summarize the plot- because we all probably know the plot, and if you don't, why would you be reading this?
Some of my favorite scenes: The Yule Ball- The Great Hall looked absolutely amazing, as it was COVERED in glass and ice and it just looked so beautiful, so breath-taking. So much better than I thought it would look. The dance was fabulous, especially with all the people dancing in synchronization, it provided for an amazing visual.
The graveyard scene- just as creepy as it should be. I've heard people complaining that Voldemort looked too human- well, yes, he does look somewhat human, but with a MAJOR twist on it. I mean, come on, what human do YOU know that has super-pale white white skin, two slits on his face for a nose and was born in a graveyard of 'arm of a servant, blood of an enemy' and such? When Voldemort says 'I can touch you now' to Harry, the tense atmosphere of the movie suddenly increases about a hundred times, because you can just tell that it is the moment when we will find Voldemort's true power now, just how strong he really has become, and how alive he really is now. And then he touches a finger to Harry's scar and Harry screams in agonizing pain, as I assume one would.
The Quidditch World Cup- It was good, however, there was no Quidditch played, which I didn't like. I loved the arena, how big it was. But what's the point of a Quidditch World Cup if you aren't even going to show any Quidditch?
The Death Eaters- They looked just as scary as I hoped they would.
The Maze- awesome. I loved it because it was so dark and not at all enlightened, which it shouldn't have been because it's not supposed to be. It was so dark and amazing.
The bath scene- wow, just, wow. Myrtle + Harry= love?
The Wizengamot (in the pensieve)- Awesome. I thought the 'cage' they kept a prisoner in was really cool, with the spikes and all, fantastic!
And the things I didn't love: I didn't like that they cut out the entire part about Hermione and elf rights, I think it would have given the film a bit more depth, however I can understand them wanting to focus more on the tournament and the tasks. And if they would've put the part about elf rights in, it would have taken away from the effect of the tournament.
No Quidditch in the Quidditch World Cup! I understand they wanted to focus on the events going on during the Cup, but couldn't they have showed a little bit of Quidditch?
OVERALL, I'd have to say this was the best one yet. I've heard people say this was the worst, but I can't see that at all. It was just magical, which is exactly what a Harry Potter movie should be. 4.75/5 <--- Not giving it full marks, just because they left out quidditch at the world cup.
