Filming Information
Current Filming Status:
Filming of the movie is complete, and post-production has begun.
Background Info:
Filming started in February at Leavesden Studios. According to director David Yates, filming will continue until the
middle of May when there will be break for the younger actors to take exams, and then resume in July and last until
October or November.
The first theatrical teaser trailer for Order of the Phoenix was
released in front of the WB film Happy Feet. A high-definition version
of the teaser trailer has made its way online, and we took 81 high-quality screencaps,
giving you detailed looks at the fantastic sets and characters,
including Bellatrix Lestrange.
A video of HBO's Phoenix special has emerged online. It shows more from
the fifth film than the teaser trailer itself, including behind the
scenes filming of the movie, our first look at Evanna Lynch playing
Luna, and much more. Screencaps can be seen here.
A plan for the beginning of Order of the Phoenix has been sent in to MuggleNet. Could be considered as a spoiler. Click here to read.

- In an interview with FilmJournal.com, director David Yates talks about
how he got to direct Potter and about his own personal experience with the
series:
I read the fifth book first, then I went back and read the others, and
it was really interesting. I fell in love quite quickly because the
characters are great and education is a universal experience.

- The Telegraph and The Gazette have both published interviews with cast
members Katie Leung (Cho), Bonnie Wright (Ginny), Matthew Lewis (Neville),
and Evanna Lynch (Luna). You can view them here:

Gazette. The BBC also have an interview with these cast members,

- In an interview with The Observer, Jason Isaacs briefly commented on what it is like on set:
I spent two weeks having a wand fight with Helena Bonham Carter
(Bellatrix) and Gary Oldman (Sirius). Potter is a well-oiled machine
now, whichever director is in charge, although it's a slow process
working with all those special effects. But it's such a laugh - five
weeks hanging out with Oldman and Maggie Smith (McGonagall) and Michael
Gambon (Dumbledore), who's a right mischievous devil.
- Dan Radcliffe comments about the fifth film's teaser trailer in a short interview with CBBC Newsround. Click

here.
- In an interview with AM New York, Rupert Grint described the filming of the Thestral scenes:
It was really a good time because they had to make a mold, a
specially made harness that goes under your legs, because in the film
it has to be invisible. They put you on this crane and lifted you up in
the air. That's been my favorite scene so far." Rupert aso discusses a
spider scene the producers attempted but ended up cutting out.

- In an interview with Mid-Day, Dan Radcliffe, Cho Chang and
director David Yates discussed the filming of Order of the Phoenix.
Excerpts from the article:
How different is this Potter?Very different so far - this
role's more challenging than the ones I done before. Not physically
challenging but in terms of acting, it's harder to do this one. And
then it is different working with David, he's sort of got a very high
quiet voice and he's soft spoken.
This movie is also different because there was a big gap in the
middle because we stopped for a month and a half to do school exams and
stuff. So the production shut down in the middle, which was very odd
because that hasn't happened before.
Thedirector's approach to the kissing scene between Harry and Cho was also discussed. You can read the interview in full
here
- In order to prepare for OoTP, Daniel Radcliffe has been meeting
with a bereavement counselor so he can understand the survivor's guilt
his character is feeling. "Sirius is clinging on to James through me,
and I'm trying to know my father through him," Radcliffe said. "The
same thing happens with me and Cho. I was the last person there when
her last boyfriend, Cedric, was killed." Click

Well, I can certainly see why we're trying to keep them alive. Who wouldn't want pets that can burn, sting, and bite all at once?
