"Comedy Quidditch!"

That's what the franchises' Key Unit Publicist, Vanessa Davies, described Half-Blood Prince's Quidditch matches as in late-January 2008 when I visited Leavesden Studios. The comment was prompted by Rupert Grint's pending arrival into the interview room where myself and several other members of the online press were waiting to talk to him about his first time on the broom.

Vanessa explained, "Quidditch is going to be hilarious, it's going to be the best we've ever seen. The stunt teams are doing incredible things, incredible things."

Rupert then came in sporting his Quidditch outfit. As he described it, "This is only part of the costume. Because I'm a Keeper, I got this massive leather body pad and I've got this Keeper hat, and I've been really enjoying Quidditch actually, its been alright!"

While excited, he was quick to add that it's not all fun and games: "It was a bit of an anti-climax because it is actually really painful and really uncomfortable [to sit on a broom]."

What, exactly, makes Quidditch stand out in this film? Rupert had a lot to say about it:

"This one's a little more light-hearted than the last one. The last one was really quite dark but this one's got a few more lighter moments in it, and the Quidditch is quite fun because, for Ron, there are two sort of sides to it. There's a side where he thinks he's really good because he thinks he's taken the potion. And there's the other side where during tryouts he's actually not really good. So I have to do a bit of both for this one."

A more detailed video report, complete with video interviews, will be here on MuggleNet in July. Stay tuned!
