POA wins best movie at Spaceys
At last night's Spacey Awards, Prisoner of Azkaban was dubbed the year's favourite movie, beating out The Incredibles, I, Robot, Shrek 2 and Spider-Man 2. The general manager and vice-president of the Space channel (which produces the Spaceys) admitted that Spider-Man 2 was favourite to win over POA. "We thought it (Potter) might skew a bit younger than the average Space viewer, but at the end of the day... that one was a fairly tight race."

After Star Wars, "few franchises left to geek out about"
We're cited as an example of "superfans" in an Associated Press article
just about every newspaper in the country is running. They seem to think that just because we count down to the release of book 6 to the second that means we're obsessive... which is pretty true.
If there’s hope for a new legion of obsessives, it could come from Harry Potter. Just as “Star Wars” fans attend midnight premieres (apparently the designated hour of the superfan), Potter fans lines blocks for each new book at the witching hour.
One fan site, mugglenet.com, currently counts down the next installment, “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince,” to the second.

Yates comments on OOTP hold-up
Today there was a small article in The Independent about the politics behind shooting certain scenes for the next Harry Potter installment. Right now Order of the Phoenix director David Yates needs to secure 17 different councils to shoot the scenes for the next movie, and some of them are not being cooperative.
"A highlight of the superhero's next film outing will (hopefully) see Potter, played by Daniel Radcliffe leading a high-speed broomstick chase, James Bond-style, down the Thames.
Unfortunately, the film's director, David Yates, who is currently masterminding pre-production, says that several local councils are refusing to play ball.
"So far, we have spent a lot of time on boats on the Thames," he tells me. "I want to do a great big wizard chase past the London landmarks and it is going to be very exciting, but it has not been easy to set up."
Yates has assigned the task of sorting all this out to his location manager over the next four months. Filming for OOTP is scheduled to begin next spring.

JKR: HBP 'leaks' easy to make up
Jo Rowling has updated the news section of her official site regarding the recent rumor that a manuscript of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince had been leaked. This resulted in residents of a town where the book is being printed suddenly placing bets on a certain character dying. Says Jo:
Please remember that allegations of 'leaks' concerning deaths in 'Half-Blood Prince' are very easy to make. Any comment I make on such rumours would be a spoiler, so I'll just repeat: keep those barrels of salt handy.
She also states that she never posts on fan sites and urges fans not to be fooled by impostors.
In an update to the Rubbish Bin, Jo comments on a story entitled, "JKR has said that 'Half-Blood Prince' is her best book yet."

Pattinson, Ianevski speak
Empire Online had the good fortune to bump in to Robert Pattinson (Cedric Diggory) and Stanislav Ianevski (Viktor Krum) out and about on London's West End last night. Pattinson said:
"[Krum is] the guy who's actually playing, but I don't actually do any Quiddictch in the movie. I do a bit of talking about Quidditch, I guess."
He promised an even better film this time. "I think basically the characters have been developed pretty fully in the first three, and it's just going to take another turn into being more of a thriller, is more boom boom boom, to the climax. I think it's a much faster paced, action-y film than the others. I think that it's a little bit darker, and they kill off key characters. There's always going to be a little bit of a twist – killing someone is always a bit of a shock."
We even took the opportunity to pump him for information about Ralph Fiennes' role as He Who Must Not Be Named, Lord Voldemort. "I'm not actually allowed to say anything about it, but it is fantastic. That will be the most stunning sequence in the Potter series."
Thanks, Tracey, for the heads-up!

HBP manuscript leaked?
Recently, thousands of £50 bets have been placed on a certain character (who we won't name) dying in book 6. The bets have been placed by residents of Bunhomosexual, Suffolk, where the sixth book is being printed. Warren Lush of Ladbrokes said: "We weren't foolish enough to take the bets. There are obviously people out there who have read the manuscripts." Another chain of bookstores said it was "obvious" that a manuscript of HBP had been leaked and read.
UPDATE: We have just received the following email from Bloomsbury, the UK publisher of the books: J. K. Rowling has mentioned previously, in various situations, that any rumour, unless confirmed by herself personally, or by her publishers which are, but not limited to; Bloomsbury Publishing Plc, Scholastic Trade Books and Raincoast Publishing, is merely a rumour and should be treated as trivial.
We repeat: The security measures in Bunhomosexual are sufficient to ensure the prevention of any 'leaks'. SPOILER WARNING: Please keep in mind if you venture over to read these articles, or go in the comments for this news post, it will reveal significant rumors regarding the plot for HBP. Everything in both articles is of course rumored information, so if you don't want to know anything don't read them!
The story was originally published by The Sun, but more information can be found in an article by ThisisLondon.
Dissendium.com has provided us with a transcript of the exclusive Sun article here.
Another betting company in the UK is receiving high bids on a certain character being named the Half-Blood Prince. The same spoiler rule applies in that this article also reveals the name of a character in question. Thanks to Dijares at HarryPot

Details on HBP printing security
The Sun published today an article including all the details of the security measures put in place to avoid leaks:
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood prince is being produced in seperate chunks to stop workers leaking the plot before its official July 16 release.
More than 1,000 staff are scrutinised on the way in and out of the Druckerei GGP works at Possneck, which is surrounded by an 8ft chain-link fence with a guarded gate.
Security staff have orders to examine all bags - and even lunchboxes - as well as make random checks on lockers, desks and other workplace areas.
Mobile phones and recording devices are banned to stop printers reciting sections of text about Harry's adventures at Hogwarts School.
The entire article can be read here.

JKR to write crime fiction novels after HP?
The
Times of London has a piece exploring the possibility of Jo Rowling writing crime fiction books after the Harry Potter saga ends.
“AA Milne tried to write adult novels and was never reviewed without the mention of Tigger, Pooh and Piglet,” [Jo] said recently. “I would imagine the same will happen to me. That’s fine, my shoulders are broad enough.”
Rowling has written two unpublished adult novels and is keen to return to a “liberating” mystery project she worked on between the fourth and fifth Potter books. “I was writing something else for a while, which was great. I might go back to that,” she said.

Introducing... PotterParties.com
We're happy to announce our support of PotterParti
es.com,
which is, at its most basic level, an international database of parties celebrating the release of Half-Blood Prince. But it's really so much more than that - it's, as the site slogan reads, "The only site you need to find and plan your ideal event!" Rather than list all of what the site has to offer here, I'd encourage you to browse the site and see for yourself. Bear in mind that because the site just opened and few stores have officially announced plans for July 16th, the listings are not exactly extensive yet. We know you'll find it useful in the coming months.
PotterParties.com is a collaborative effort on the part of all of the top HP fan sites, but special thanks goes out to Leakyers Sue Upton, Britta Peterson, John Noe and Nick Poulden for all their hard work in making this happen - you guys did a terrific job!

Dan sets the record straight about the Weekly Reader article
Both DanRadcliffe.com and DanRadcliffe.co.uk received a reponse from Dan about the Weekly Reader article this morning, regarding his friendship with Rupert. This is what he had to say about it:
"I usually do not make any comment on postings on websites however, I have been made aware that a simple answer I gave in an interview to Weekly Reader re my relationship with Rupert has sent people into a maelstrom of speculation. It has shocked me that the words "I don't spend much time with Rupert" has been interpreted in so many grossly inaccurate ways.
FACT: I like Rupert, I get on with Rupert, we are friends and when we are on set together we have a good laugh.
We don't spend much time together off set - because there isn't any! Those of you who are familiar with GoF will know that there are many scenes in which Ron doesn't appear Also, I am still at school and when I am not on set filming I am in tutoring and when Rupert is not needed for filming he is not in the studio. But, we are good friends and any suggestion otherwise is wrong".

GOF trailer absent in some theatres
We've received many e-mails, some angry, saying that the Goblet of Fire teaser trailer did not appear before the new film Kicking and Screaming that started playing in theatres yesterday.
If you're going to see the film in an attempt to see the trailer, be aware that some theatres might not be showing it. You may want to call ahead to be sure.
EDIT: Melody, a movie theater owner, sent us some info:
The reason is that theaters have even and odd numbers and only the odd-numbered theaters were told to place that trailer in front of the film. The even-numbered theaters did get it, but can not run it yet.

New GOF report, cast interviews and pics
Weekly
Reader has posted a special on the Goblet of Fire movie, which includes a brief set report and interviews with Dan Radcliffe, Katie Leung (Cho), Stanislav Ianevski (Krum) and Robert Pattinson (Cedric). The report also takes a look some of the filming:
On this particular afternoon, Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter) is preparing to film a key scene with Katie Leung (Cho Chang) in the owlery. Crew members adjust the lighting and test the sound. When everything is ready and the camera is rolling, director Mike Newell shouts "Action!"
On-camera, Cho breaks the news to Harry that she already has a date to the Yule Ball. Off-camera, animal trainers perched on ladders and scaffolding direct live owls to swoop behind Leung, as if they are arriving at Hogwarts. Although the scene is being shot indoors in front of a large green screen, there will be snowy mountain scenery behind Leung in the final cut. The scene, which might last 30 seconds on film, takes more than two hours to shoot from various angles.
Additionally, the report offers brand new pictures of Katie, Stanislav and Robert.

A call from... Jo Rowling (!!!)
"Hello, Emerson? This is Jo."
[pause]
"You believe me, don't you?"
[pause] [thinking: did you think there was even the slightest chance I wouldn't recognize your voice?]
[laughs] "Yes, you believe me."
The rest of it, I'm sorry to say, went by in a blur. Unlike Melissa from TLC, I had no prior warning to expect this phone call so I didn't have my thinking cap on and was caught unawares. It was 9am and that's still middle of the night according to my messed up body clock.
OK, getting to the point: she's flying myself and Melissa to Scotland to interview her in her house on the day of the HBP release. This is especially cool because this will (we think) be the only interview she'll be doing for the book launch. And we of course won't be asking any of the stupid questions most HP-ignorant reporters ask. Yes, we'll make ours count. In fact, we'll be working with you guys on them, but we'll get to that later so hold your questions for now.
This was 10 days ago. Bloomsbury, of course, wanted us to keep it hush-hush (which is an understatement - we couldn't tell anybody...even our pets! OK, we could tell them, but only if we were sure they could keep a secret.) until they announced it officially. But as you can imagine, we had a very difficult time doing that. In her
post, Melissa pasted in mountains of IM conversations we had trying to keep each other sane which consist of mostly exclamation points and random scrambling of the keys. I would encourage you not to read them. Oh yes, it was a rough 10 days...but now you know.
Edit: I can fit two small people in my suitcase, if anyone is interested.
Edit #2: I was totally joking about fitting people in my suitcase. Sorry if I got anyone's hopes up.

JKR's book 6 plans
Jo Rowling has just updated the news section on her official site giving us some insight into her plans for the release of the sixth book. She will be attending a special launch at Edinburgh Castle and on the stroke of midnight, on the 16th, will be reading from the book.
Seventy reporters, representing English-language newspapers, will be attending the event. Also, competitions will be run by newspapers from Britain, Ireland, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand and Canada with the lucky winners being sent to the event as a reporter. Alternatively, you can enter the competion on the Bloomsbury website. Each reporter will be given the weekend to read HBP in a specially created "Reading Room" and they will later get to put their questions to Jo at the Harry Potter Children's Press Conference, which will be broadcast on TV and radio stations around the world.
In addition to the update to the news section, JKR has debunked FAQs and made TLC the new spolight fan site. Congratulations to them!

I feel really sorry for him at some parts because I know how it feels to be going, [imitates nervous guy], and having nothing to say. | Full teaser trailer online Monday, Sunday at the earliest |
Apparently, bits of the trailer will be shown during ABC's broadcast of Chamber of Secrets, but the full Goblet of Fire theatrical teaser trailer won't be available online until Monday, May 9th, where it will debut on Apple.com. However, WB says the trailer will go up on satellite on Sunday, so if someone captures it and converts it, we could have it a day earlier.
Thanks to HPANA for the news.
UPDATE: The trailer will be up on Apple.com over the weekend, TLC<

CBBC's First Look at GOF: videos and more
[url=http://news.bbc.co.ukCBBC Newsround posted up their own Goblet of Fire preview today with new pictures and short, behind-the-scenes videos (at the end of the Trio interviews).
Dan revealed what he likes about Harry: "He's pathetic at the whole romance thing. He's a character for anyone who's ever been awkward with a girl."
Rupert Grint seemed excited about the action scenes in this film. He said: "The tournament is wicked - really dangerous and exciting," and from the shots of Harry apparently leaping aboard a runaway broom, we're not going to disagree!

USA Today prints new GOF pic, confirms Dan will return for OOTP
The article
published offers a look at the difficulities filming the Tri-Wizard Tournament:
The physical requirements were much tougher this time. Goblet is more of an action thriller than the previous three because it centers on an elaborate physical contest, the Tri-Wizard Tournament.
Radcliffe had to learn to scuba-dive, then act underwater. "Just keeping your eyes open for a significant time is difficult," Newell says. "We couldn't do anything for more than 15 seconds at a time, which proved very complicated."
Additionally, there is a new picture of Fred and George in front of the Goblet, and a seperate
interview with Dan Radcliffe confirms that he will reprise his role in Order of the Phoenix.
