Spotlight Theory
If Harry, being a true Gryffindor, can pull something of Gryffindor's from the Sorting Hat, would a "true" member of one of the other three houses be able to do the same for his or her respective house's founder? If so, what effect would this have on the retrieval of Horcruxes and Dumbledore's call for a unification of the four houses of Hogwarts?

JK Rowling says:
On if it's true if she has the end of the story worked out...
"Yes, I do know what's going to happen in the end. And occasionally I get cold shivers when someone guesses at something that's very close, and then I panic and I think "Oh, is it very obvious?" and then someone says something that's so off the wall that I think "No, it's clearly not that obvious!"

Concerning the Fate of the Boy Who Lived
Written by Jess Costain
Recently in an interview, Jim Dale, narrator of the US Potter books was quoted as saying that Jo has lived with Harry Potter so long that she "really wants to kill him off." While Jim was merely expressing his opinion, it does leave many fans wondering: "Is Harry really going to survive the seventh book?"

There's plenty of fodder for both sides of the argument - the prophecy can be read in many different contexts and there seems to be much symbolism afoot. Only one thing is certain and that is: no one but J.K. actually knows and even she can change her mind.

Personally, I'm confident that Harry will vanquish Voldemort; however I'm rooting for him to die - evil of me, I suppose - but let's look at one of the main lessons the books teach us. Dumbledore instructs everyone to do what is right and not what is easy; this theme is present throughout the books. It is not easy to sacrifice yourself with something as final as death, but one thing we've learned about Harry is that he has a "saving people" thing.

This "saving people" thing is deeply engrained in Harry; therefore, he may avoid his demise while defeating Voldemort but it is quite possible that he could die soon after, while participating in other "heroic pursuits" such as saving friends from the clutches of remaining Death Eaters. Being struck down by a Death Eater after saving the world would certainly make a point.

The reasons why I believe Harry won't survive are the large amount of creative and realistic plotlines available, and morality emphasizing reasons for him to die. While it would be a nice reward for Harry and for us if he lived, it could potentially mean skipping out on a lesson about the costs of warfare and loose ethics.
