No News Is Good News
Written by K'lyssa Selmon
...well, it is in the Harry Potter world anyway. In recent weeks, new news has been well - virtually nonexistent. But for once, it’s good that we don’t have anything to update with because it means that not only is JK Rowling hard at work on Book 7, but that Order of the Phoenix will begin filming soon. There have, however, been a few newsworthy stories to keep us occupied as we approach the inevitable finale of the HP book universe.

JK Rowling did an interview with Tatler Magazine that gave us more insight on our favorite author than we’ve seen in any other interview. Luna Lovegood auditions began last weekend, with more than 15,000 hopefuls turning out! The number has now been dropped down to 400, and we can expect a gradual decrease as the weeks go on - with shooting on Order of the Phoenix set to begin sometime in February.

Although it seems like only yesterday when we received the hardback version of Half-Blood Prince, Scholastic announced last week that the paperback version will be released on July 25th for a mere $9.99. Awards season has been good to Goblet of Fire, as the film has been nominated for numerous awards - most recently three BAFTAs (Production Design, Achievement in Special Visual Effects, and Make-Up and Hair).

Perhaps the biggest news of the new year so far came when Aaron Lambert was sentenced to four and a half years in prison for his part in the theft of two copies of Half-Blood Prince in June of last year. After stealing the books, Aaron tried to sell them to a Sun newspaper reporter for a large sum of money - even going so far as to threaten the reporter with a fake firearm. He should begin serving his sentence soon, and all for stealing a book that was due to be released in less than a month..

As the year progresses, we hope to see set pictures of Order of the Phoenix as well as hear more about the final book in the series that has changed all of our lives. So stay tuned to MuggleNet, we'll be sure to keep you updated as any news becomes available to us and we hope to have several new sections coming soon as well.
