Camp 9 3/4 is an incredibly unique Harry Potter conference coming to Texas this October. This Columbus Day weekend, fans will come together for five days of Quidditch, workshops, debates, discussions, firewhiskey, bonfires, smores, nightly wizard rock concerts, movies under the stars, and so much more.
Dame Maggie Smith is certainly a larger than life character, as shown in her portrait revealed last week at London’s National Portrait Gallery. The painting, which stands six-foot-three, is by artist James Lloyd, winner of the esteemed BP Portrait Award.

Earlier this afternoon Chris Columbus, director of the first two Harry Potter films, gave an appearance in Winnetka, Illinois at The Book Stall, where he read an excerpt from his upcoming children’s fantasy novel, House of Secrets. Co-written with young adult author Ned Vizzini (The Other Normals, It’s Kind of a Funny Story), House of Secrets will be released this coming Tuesday, April 23, 2013.

Harry Potter alums Imelda Staunton, who portrays Professor Umbridge, and Toby Jones, who provides the voice of Dobby, are set to star in Circle Mirror Transformation at the Rose Lipman Building in London. The production is part of the Royal Court’s Theatre Local Project, and will run from July 5 to August 3.

As previously reported, Scholastic has brought on artist Kazu Kibuishi to design new covers for the 15th anniversary collection of the Potter series to be released over this year. The new covers can be bought as individual books or as a boxed set, which is now avaliable to pre-order before the release at the end of August.
