Potter Profile - The Ace Gang

July 3, 2005

Editors note: This was a group of 11 girls known as The Ace Gang.

What is your favorite Harry Potter book and why?
We thought that the fourth book was definately the best. A lot of the characters were more mature and better showed their personalities. The plot of the Triwizard Tournament was exciting and creative. We also learned a lot of information about the series itself in the 4th book. A lot of us also love the 3rd book because it is where we first meet Sirius and the whole book lets us learn a ton about Harry and his family.

Did you like the third movie or not and why?
We loved the third movie! The time travel portion was really neat. No Sean Biggerstaff was a bit of a let down, but the growing creativity with the special effects, Hogwarts grounds, characters and soundtrack in the 3rd movie were so awesome we soon quit feeling sorry for ourselves. We were also glad that it didn't have another sappy ending of everyone hugging/cheering/crying in the Great Hall. The end of this one was a bit weird, but hey, it was different.

If you could spend the day as one character from the books, who would it be?
Ann would spend the day being someone in close proximity to Dumbledore, like Professor McGonagall, because Dumbledore is her favorite character and she would love to be able to talk to him and watch him.

Kelsey would be Fred or George and terrorize Syltherins, Snape, and Filch for the day. It would also be great to explore hidden passages within the school.

Chelsea would be Tonks or Katie, because it would be amazing to change your appearance or to rip through the air on a broomstick!

What do you think of all this "relationship" arguments about who will end up with who, etc.?
It's pretty obvious that Ron will end up with Hermione, and we're strong supporters of this relationship. Harry and Ginny would be great together, especially since in recent books she has been less star-struck and more her own person. We love her now that we see more of her personality and how she's her own person. We love her now that we see more of her personality and how she stands up for what she believes in. It will be interesting to see if anything happens with Bill and Fleur too. The Draco-Hermione thing is NOT going to happen. Jo likes to surprise us, but that's just beyond ridiculous.

What is your favorite moment of the series so far?
There are so many great moments in the books, but we just finished rereading (for the bazillionth time) the fifth, so one is fresh in our minds. It is absolutely awesome when Umbridge is being lured into Hermione's trap in the Forbidden Forest. She is just so clueless and stupid. The time leading up to, and when Fred and George leave is another great part of the 5th book. Tri-Wizard Tournament is another one of our favorites. From the port keys to the veelas and even replaying the game with Omnioculars, Jo never fails to amaze us.

Who do you think the Half-Blood prince is?
We're pushing for Dumbledore as the Half-Blood Prince. It does have Harry and Dumbledore on the cover, after all. We have been thinking hard about something brought up on MuggleNet earlier: is the "half-blood prince" prince of the half-bloods or a prince that is half-blood?? It's a question we'll have to wait a few more days to find out the answer to.

Do you have anything else you'd like to add? Maybe a theory you've concocted, a shout-out?
We'd like to give a shout out to EVERYONE in Negaunee--all of our friends, family and teachers at NHS! Ann, Natalie and Janel would like a couple shout outs to their friends Lisa and Joanna in Minnesota - they're huge Harry fans! Also, a huge shout out to our fantastic friend and fellow fanatic BRIAN SMOCK!
