Potter Profile - Alan

August 29, 2010

First off, how did you become a Harry Potter fan?
I heard about the books and saw the first movie. Then I was hooked for good.

It has been over three years since Deathly Hallows came out and we found out how the series ended. Do you have the same reaction to the ending now, as you did then?
Yes. I found that rereading made the ending clearer, but the "finale" was definitely worth the wait. My only down side to the conclusion was that I wanted a slightly longer epilogue, one that took into account what happened to more of the main characters.

Deathly Hallows: Part 1 was screened in Chicago to a very lucky audience, including some MuggleNet staff members! If you read the reviews, what did you think? If you didn't read them, why not?
I read them, and they concur with what I've seen in the trailers (as opposed to the earlier teasers, which were frustrating.) I think that DH the movie, both parts, are going to be epic and thrilling. Of course it is unfortunate that we still have a couple of months, but I guess I can wait that long. I'm glad I did not see the pre-screening, because I want to see the entirely finished product. It sounds incredible.

The Deathly Hallows movie split was announced this month via Entertainment Weekly. If you read the spoiler, what do you think? Where would YOU split the movie?
I think they did it right. In this way they end part one with a major event - stealing the elder wand - instead of where I THOUGHT it would be: the inadvertent mention of Voldemort's name and the trio being discovered. I knew that Malfoy Manor would be mostly in part two. (I'm also happy that Dobby has a little more to do in part one - more than in the book.)

WWoHP had it's 1,000,000th visitor this month - already! Have you visited the park, or have plans to? What were/are you most excited to see/visit?
I have not been able to get to Florida yet. But I really want to, and I can't wait to taste REAL butterbeer. Mmm.

OMG! Emma cut her hair off! Love it, or dislike it?
Had she cut her hair before finishing Hermione, I would have disliked it. But this helps her break from the mold and the past. It also helps her become slightly more anonymous at college. I hope she continues acting, because she has grown immensely as an actress.

Is there anything else you would like to add?
I was proud to have gotten one clue right that passed many people by. When (early on) Petunia mentioned "that awful boy" I somehow knew she was not referring to James but to Snape. I was surprised and thankful that JKR had Snapes memories opened up like that. It clarified so much. Now if she can just give us that important Encyclopedia of Hogwarts and the students, it will be wonderful.
