Potter Profile - Ally

First off, how did you become a Harry Potter fan?
Well, to answer this question, I really had to dig into the depths of my memories. It seems like I have been a Harry Potter fan all my life, but really, I think it all started when I was about 4. When the first Harry Potter movie came out, I don’t even think I was in kindergarten, yet! Based mainly off of the commercials I saw, I thought it would be a gross "BOY" movie! However, I was COMPLETELY wrong! One day, my grandparents decided to go and see the movie, and invited my mother, my sister, and I to join them. I should have figured this was a good movie when I saw my cousin in the theater. My cousin was seeing this movie for the fifth time. I thought she was crazy, but as the lights dimmed and I saw the the "old man" and the "cat who turned into a lady" (mind you, I was four.), I was awed. I really think that was the breaking point for me. I loved Harry Potter from then on. We went and saw the movies the day they came out, and bought them the day it was released in the movie stores. However, my obsession started when I was about in third grade, when something magical happened--I started to read the books. They were AMAZING!!! It was the first time I had actually been in love with reading. I usually hated to read, but Harry Potter changed that. It opened my eyes to the written word. Now I adore reading, and after trying out some fanfiction and getting great feedback, I now have an idea for a novel of my own, and I hope to become an author later in life. I also believe that Harry Potter has definitely boosted my self-esteem and intelligence. I owe Jo my life, and because of her, I am now attenting a great school off of a full-ride scholarship. And why did I even consider going to this school? It reminded me of Hogwarts.

It has been over two years since Deathly Hallows came out and we found out how the series ended. Do you have the same reaction to the ending now, as you did then?
Definitely!! Deathly Hallows was always my favorite of the series, and made me shed more tears than I ever have because of a book. I remember sitting and reading the book everyday and everynight, taking it with me wherever I went. Even now, I go back and re-read the ending, to get the same reaction as I did two years ago. All of the revelations and all of the twists STILL make my brain whir to this very day. I still cry all throughout the book, starting with the Dursleys, and ending with "All was well." This book definitely made me feel as if I were in their shoes, and made me feel the despair, heartbreak, happiness, and joy as the characters felt. I felt like I was unraveling the mystery right along next to them, and that only made the ending ever-more dramatic. I believe that the last 10 or so chapters of Deathly Hallows made the series go out with a bang. Those last few chapters still rip out my heart, put it back in, and sew it up. So many terrible things happen, but then, it all gets better in the end. Despite the many deaths and disasters, Deathly Hallows is still the most amazing book I have ever read in my entire life.

There are quite a few organizations/clubs at Hogwarts. Which you would rather join and why: Dueling Club, Dumbledore's Army, or S.P.E.W.?
I would like to think that I would join Dumbledore's Army. I have always been one to follow the rules, but if I had to deal with Umbridge, I think I might've just cracked. I would have believed Harry about Voldemort, because he had saved so many people and things before that even happened, and there was proof of Voldemort coming back when Harry and Cedric's body came back to the school! Cedric was DEAD, and Harry was a broken mess about it. Yes, I would definitely side with Harry on this one and I would join Dumbledore's Army. I would love to be taught spells, jinxes, hexes, and curses from the boy who conquered so many things! If he was good enough for the Goblet of Fire, then he is definitely good enough to be teaching proper magic. I would be honored to be included in the DA, not only to be part of history, but to do my part in the war against Voldemort and his Death Eaters and accomplices. I would want to contribute, and also learn basic skills for protection against Dark Magic, or anything wanting to hurt me. I know, I know, I am talking like I am actually part of the Wizarding World, but when I talk about these subjects, I get a bit too involved. (;

If you could attend Hogwarts, Which class do you think would be your favorite?
I think that my favorite class would be Defense Against the Dark Arts (DADA). It would give me an adrenaline rush, learning about all of the Dark Magic there is and how to defend yourself against it. I would also love to learn about different creatures such as grindylows, werewolves, boggarts, and other things. It would really fascinate me. I would like to practice dueling and how to deal with certain types of magic. It would be amazing! It would also help prepare me for the DA when Umbridge comes around ;D

Which class would be your best, whether you liked it or not?
I think my best class would be Charms. I have always succeeded in academics, and I think that I would be really good at Charms, since it requires thought and concentration. I am also very creative, and I think you would need to have an open mind for Charms. You would HAVE to have one to be able to fathom the crazy things that you are going to do. Such as, make a teacup dance, or make a frog sing. If you didn't have a steady mind, that just might make you crazy or insane. I think I would be able to concentrate on the set task and be able to make random objects or animals do certain things. It would be really fun, and that makes for a good class. I also believe that practice makes perfect, and that would make me a good Charms student.

Okay, be honest. We got you this year with our April Fool's story about JKR writing a Potter prequel featuring Elvendork. However, if she really wrote it, it would be so...
It would be so hilarious!!!!! I really would write a long reply to this, but there is only one thing that I really can say about this one: "It's unisex!"

Is there anything else you would like to add?
I would like to thank JK Rowling for being an amazing writer and role model! Jo really made my life amazing, and I can't thank her enough. Also, thank you MuggleNet for supplying me with my Harry Potter needs! You guys kept me sane during school hours when I was at a computer and I realized that MuggleNet was not blocked on the school server. And thank you, my friends and family, for putting up with me when I made you take me to the midnight showing of the Harry Potter movies and realeases of the books, and for getting used to my obsession. Lastly, to my fellow PotterHeads, thanks for agreeing that Harry Potter is amazing and is pretty much the best thing ever. I am right along with you guys! :D
