Potter Profile - Carla

Give us your review of Half-Blood Prince.
JKR took painstaking efforts to avoid her characteristic "oops" mistakes that I personally find make her writing more genuine and less corporate feeling. Harry is more insightful and mature in this installment, as are Hermione and Ron, though he is clearly the least mature of the trio. I enjoyed the opening chapter and learning more about Draco's mother Narcissa and her relationships with her family. This book tied together some loose ends, but it sure left a lot open for speculation, as MuggleNet's editorials can attest to!
Did you like the fourth movie or not and why?
Overall, yes, very much. As long as you are not looking for a play-by-play interpretation of the book, all the films are enjoyable. In my opinion, this one is the best produced and performed one so far. I wrote a review of it and it is posted on MuggleNet's movie reviews (look for Carla's).
Which EVIL character would you like to be for a day?
Hmmm...there is a lot of debate as to who is truly evil, but I enjoyed spending the last book release day as Rita Skeeter. She is obnoxiously evil and underhanded, always putting herself before anyone else, and she smiles as she stabs you in the back and justifies it in her own twisted reality. A lot of the other evil characters have some redeeming qualities that give them some dimension, but Rita is one rotten apple. I dressed the part and a friend even made me a "press pass" from the Daily Prophet. Even before I put on the pass, kids at the book release were pointing and saying, " Look, there's Rita Skeeter!".
Which GOOD character would you want to be for a day?
I think I would love to be Tonks. She can pretend to be anyone she wants, yet she is not afraid to be herself. She doesn't hide her faults and she doesn't hide her love. Plus she's got a really cool job and a boyfriend who is, shall we say, a bit wild at times?
If you could have any magical power what would it be?
First let me mention that my 7 year old son, Isaac, loves this question: He wants ghost powers because they combine the abilities of walking through solid objects and being invisible at will. As for me, I would love to be able to heal people. Until recently, I was a volunteer Emergency Medical Technician. I loved being able to help people in my community. Sometimes, when a patient was suffering, I would wish that I could just lay my hands on them and heal them. I think that would be a wonderful, magical gift. I guess I could start an ambulance service for St. Mungo's...
What is your favourite moment of the series so far?
Forgive me for being a romantic - I love the Ginny/Harry Kiss.
Is Snape REALLY good or evil and is Dumbledore REALLY dead?
I think Snape is evil - he may have had some redemptive moments in the past with Dumbledore, but it seems to me that he has a HUGE chip on his shoulder and he's manipulative and pathological. It disturbs me that he works with children. Dumbledore's folly I guess...and yes, he's dead - but his portrait will provide guidance and advice to all who ask. Since Harry has Fawke's feather in his wand, it would be nice if Fawkes would return and become Harry's pet, but I'm not getting my hopes up.
Will Harry survive the 7th book?
Yes. Definitely. Absolutely. Positively. Well....maybe.
Do you have anything else you'd like to add? Maybe a theory you've
concocted, a shout-out?
How about a pic of me as Rita Skeeter? Here you go:
I'm the one on the Left. The lady in the middle is a local radio celebrity. My friend Sarah is the witch on the right. My son Isaac is in front of me.
