Potter Profile - Erin

October 10, 2010

First off, how did you become a Harry Potter fan?
I became a Harry Potter fan in third grade when the first movie came out. My older sister had read the Sorcerer's Stone and since the movie was coming out soon, I figured I would try it too. I was instantly hooked by the magic, and a few books, movies, and midnight release parties later, here I am.

It has been over three years since Deathly Hallows came out and we found out how the series ended. Do you have the same reaction to the ending now, as you did then?
When Deathly Hallows came out, I was thrilled with the ending. JK Rowling ended it the same way I would have. The battle was epic and although many characters died, it emphasized the enormity of the long fight. I love the Harry/Ginny and Ron/Hermione pairings and both of the families couldn't be more perfect. I recently re-read Deathly Hallows and the only thing I wish was different is the length of the epilogue. I think JK Rowling could have done more with the Nineteen Years Later, but the little glimpse she gives us is so happy that it is enough. To be honest, each time i re-read the books, I fall even more in love.

The Deathly Hallows split was announced last month. If you read the spoiler, what do you think? Where would YOU split the movie?
I did read the spoiler when I first saw it on Mugglenet. I think that it is a great part for the split because it will be a cliff hanger for people who haven't read the books. If I had to choose where to split the movie, I would probably pick the same place. Anything before that, like the Malfoy Manor scene, would have too much action to just end it and anything after that would be too late.

Did you watch the Deathly Hallows trailer? If so, thoughts? If not, why not?
I did watch the trailer, and I think it is amazing. I must have watched it ten times. I thought the first movie would be slow, but by looking at this trailer, it's going to be action packed. I think that since this the end, all the actors are giving their best, and I'm very excited.

Deathly Hallows: Part 1 is now less than two months away. How are you feeling, knowing that this movie marks the beginning of the end?
Back before Deathly Hallows the book came out, I was upset that the books were ending. But I always remembered I had a few movies to look forward to. Now that the movies ending, it is sad. I've been looking forward to Harry Potter book and movie releases for almost ten years, and once everything is done, things will be different. But I really believe that the magic will never truly be over.

Are you doing anything fun: having a party, dressing up, etc., for the big premiere of Part 1?
Since Sorcerer's Stone came out, I have always seen the movies with my dad and little sister first. So my plan is to see it premiere at midnight with them as always, and then see it ten more times with my friends.

Is there a particular scene that you are looking forward to the most? One that you are dreading?
I think I am most looking forward to seeing the fight scene between Harry and Ron when Ron leaves. It is such an emotional part of the book and I'm interested to see how the actors show those emotions. I also really want to see Snape's memories. We have only had a few glimpses of young Lily, James, and Snape, so seeing those flashbacks will be cool. I am dreading Fred's death scene. Fred is one of my favorite characters and reading his death was terrible, and I bet seeing it in the movie will be even worse.

Is there anything else you would like to add?
I'd like to thank Kat so so much! As an avid and devoted Harry Potter fan, I feel truly honored to be Fan of the Week. Thanks to my friends and family for putting up with my constant Harry Potter references and for being with me all the way. >
