Potter Profile - Gypsy

Give us your review of Half-Blood Prince.
Two Words: LOVED IT! Loved the humor, loved the romance, loved the pensieve
scenes, just LOVED it!
A lot of things just fell into place for me after reading Book 6 and I was
walking aimlessly around the house going “Wow…just….wow…” My family thought I
had taken a blow to the head or something but I was just in awe of Jo’s latest
creation! (By the way, how creepy are inferi…sort of like a Harry Potter
adaptation of ‘Dawn of the Dead’. Eeew). I’ll admit that I had to do a re-read
almost immediately after I finished it cause I was blubbering so much towards
the end that it was difficult to actually read the words on the page!
I guess it was sort of exciting for me too, because it was the first time I
had really been involved in the hype surrounding a Harry Potter book release,
because I was still reading Goblet of Fire when Order of the Phoenix was
released. And I will shamelessly admit I was fourth in line to buy it at 9am
here in Australia from my local bookstore! I aim to be first in line for the
seventh book….
Did you like the fourth movie or not and why?
TOTALLY not fair, because I haven’t actually seen it yet. It is
being released later in Australia so that it coincides with the School Holiday
season. Grr….
But admittedly, from what footage I have seen online (I couldn’t help
myself – I’m a sucker for spoilers!), and the reviews that I have read, it is
shaping up to be my favourite movie yet!
I am really looking forward to seeing Mike Newell’s take on JK Rowling’s
story, and I JUST CAN’T WAIT!!! I bought my tickets yesterday – YAY!
If you could spend the day as one EVIL character from the books, who
would it be?
Oooh – Good Question! Most DEFINITELY Kreacher – for two reasons.
1)
I have always wanted to wear nothing but a Hogwarts tea-towel.
2)
He is just so deliciously disgusting and vile! Plus, being a house-elf
(especially an EVIL one), you would almost certainly hear things that you
otherwise would not. I’d love to have that insider knowledge!
Which GOOD character would you want to be for a day?
Wouldn’t it be awesome to be Peeves for a day? I guess some people may
consider him Evil but I don’t think he is. It’s just … he just has behavior
problems, and he has never done any real harm to anyone! Anyway, wouldn’t it
be fun to just zoom around all day throwing insults and hurling spit wads? I
think Peeves represents that little piece of all of us that just wants to
heave ourselves on the floor and throw a temper tantrum when something doesn’t
go our way. I love it!
If you could have any magical power what would it be?
I would love to move objects just by staring at them. You know like
in Matilda by Ronald Dahl?
I guess that is just the laziness coming out in me but there are just times
when it is REALLY hard to get up and walk over to the table to get the TV
remote, or to the fridge for my refreshment of choice.
What is your favourite moment of the series so far?
For me, the moment that sticks out in my mind is in Order of the Phoenix, just
after Dudley and Harry were attacked by the Dementors, and Aunt Petunia lets
something slip about her knowledge of the Wizarding world. It’s like Harry’s
world has just flipped out and all of a sudden, his weird old neighbour knows
Dumbledore, Petunia has this mysterious knowledge, and Dementors are gliding
around Privet Drive. It’s like out of the blue there are not two separate
worlds anymore, but two worlds that are more unified than Harry, and us, had
ever realized, and I think that point is reinforced in Half-blood Prince, with
the Muggle Priminister and such. I don’t know…it’s just like a slap in the
face, and I really loved that moment!
Is Snape REALLY good or evil and is Dumbledore REALLY dead?
Sorry guys but Dumbledore is definitely dead. Fullstop.
Snape on the other hand…hmmm… I like to think that he is not evil because
up until the end of Half-Blood Prince I saw Snape as a pretty nasty character,
but I still harbored a little soft spot for him, and was absolutely certain
that we would discover a perfectly concrete reason as to why Dumbledore
trusted him so much. To be entirely honest, I don’t think that the reason we
were given in Half-Blood is completely true.
Personally though, I’m leaning towards the ‘Dumbledore ordered Snape to
kill him’ theory. But hey, who knows – wouldn’t it be just delicious if JK
Rowling turns around in the 7th book and reveals that he was an
evil traitor all along? Sure tricked us…
Will Harry survive the 7th book?
Yep. I think so. He is afterall destined to become the Minister for Magic and
have twelve children isn’t he? >:)
You never know with Jo though do you? Just when you think you have it
figured out, she throws you a curve ball and all your brilliantly thought out
theories fly out the window! Like many others I know, my money is on Ron to
die in the seventh book, as much as I love him!
Isn’t it just so sad though, that series is nearly at its end? I’m gonna
cry just thinking about it!
Do you have anything else you'd like to add? Maybe a theory you've
concocted, a shout-out?
I would need to write a short novel to reveal all of MY theories!
Seriously though, I just want to send a shout–out to all the Aussie Harry
Potter fans out there. Hang in there guys, Goblet of Fire is not that far
way!!!
And I just wanna say I LOVE MuggleCast! (How good was the live show?)
Also thanks Greg for picking me for Potter Profile – it’s been swell!
