Potter Profile - Ian

Give us your review of Half-Blood Prince.
I absolutely adored every breathing moment of Half-Blood Prince. It was, in my opinion, the best Harry Potter book so far. A ton of questions were answered, and, for me, that's the biggest gift that Jo Rowling has been able to give us.

The Pensieve scenes were absolutely wonderful and revealed so much about Voldemort's past and Dumbledore's motives. I know that some people found these parts to be the worst in the book because they took away from the Hogwarts setting, but I found them to be the most exciting.

All in all, Half-Blood Prince was an absolute gem. I, like the rest of the known universe, am eagerly waiting for some news of the next book. Too bad we'll have to wait for that one…

Did you like the fourth movie or not and why?
I did like the fourth movie a lot and I found it to be the best movie so far. However, there were times where I distinctly wanted to throw an iron boot at the screen. It would have taken only five or so minutes out of the movie time to add in a Quidditch match, but we were firmly denied that.

Dumbledore was definitely not civil enough… he's completely lost his mystique! He showed incredible weakness to Harry in the office scene which breaks the entire character of Dumbledore. Also, for what reason did Dumbledore shake Harry around after his name was called out of the Goblet? Dumbledore can do Occlumency, he has no reason to force an answer out of anyone.

Though I do have my minor beefs with the movie, I enjoyed it immensely. It was the best movie so far.

If you could spend the day as one EVIL character from the books, who would it be?
I would definitely want to be Voldemort for a day. I know it's cliché, but it would be really cool to see how the other side thinks.

Which GOOD character would you want to be for a day?
Probably Dumbledore, despite the fact that he's dead. Were he not dead, I would definitely want to be him for a day. I am sure that he knows everything that goes on in the wizard world, and it would be amazing to have all of that knowledge.

If you could have any magical power what would it be?
Mind reading… I would love to know what people are thinking so I would know if they were telling the truth or not. Is that creepy?

What is your favourite moment of the series so far?
I love the scene in Half-Blood Prince when Luna comments on the Quidditch match. That was one of the funniest parts of the entire series.

Is Snape REALLY good or evil and is Dumbledore REALLY dead?
I do not believe that Snape is evil and I do not believe that Dumbledore is dead. I, like many others, think that Dumbledore made an Unbreakable Vow ordering Snape to get rid of him to keep as a spy for the other side. However, I firmly believe that Dumbledore faked his death and I have no doubt that he is powerful enough to dodge a killing curse. When Dumbledore was speaking with Draco on the tower he basically said, “We can hide you, we can keep you safe, and we can make it look as if you're dead.” Though he didn't say it in those exact words, I think that is what he was trying to get across.

Will Harry survive the 7th book?
I certainly hope not. However, it would be the ultimate twist to kill off Harry, and I wouldn't put it passed Jo to do it... Heck, she's already killed Cedric, Sirius, and Dumbledore… What's stopping her from killing Harry too?

Do you have anything else you'd like to add? Maybe a theory you've concocted, a shout-out?
My guess is that Harry has a Horcrux somewhere right with him in his trunk that he doesn't know about. I could be right, I could be wrong… probably the latter, but it would be very interesting if the last Horcrux Harry had to destroy was something very close to him… Maybe even his wand, or even… (bum bum bum, prolonged creepy music) his own scar?

Thanks for letting me do this, and a shout out to my homies in cell block eight! That's a joke, by the way…

Quotes
They make a fuss about Hogsmeade, but I assure you, Harry, it's not all it's cracked up to be. All right, the sweetshop's rather good, and Zonko's Joke Shop is frankly dangerous, and yes, the Shrieking Shack's always worth a visit, but really, Harry, apart from that you're not missing anything.
