Potter Profile - Karima

First off, how did you become a Harry Potter fan?
I vividly remember it was when I was 12 years old. I was at an airport in Dubai and was just strolling around the book section when I came across the Harry Potter series. I've always wondered why my friends talked about it so much. So I decided to give it a shot and buy just one of the series. Ridiculously, I bought the Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban book because I liked the cover a lot (I haven't read any of the previous series). When I started reading it, I didn't quite understand the story since I've never even read the first two books. So I just neglected it for a while (shame on me!) until the Harry Potter and Sorcerer's Stone movie was released and I started to understand the story. Right after that I became so attached and devoted to it that I bought the other books and started reading it non stop. Since then Ive become totally hooked with all sorts of Harry Potter stuff and I would get jumpy and thrilled every time there are news about Harry Potter on TV, magazines, newspapers and every other media!
How are you feeling now that the series is over?
It was heartbreaking since I always looked forward to it every time a new one was going to be published. Plus I've always dreamed of going to London and get J.K. Rowling's autograph during the book release hehe.. But I love how the book ended, it was perfect and totally unexpected. I don't think any other book is ever going to replace or beat the Harry Potter series.
In Chapter 1 of HBP, the Muggle Prime Minister is told about the existence of the
Wizarding World. How do you
think you would react to news of a magic world?
Wow... a wizarding world? I'd definitely be completely excited and thrilled about it! I'd want to enroll to Hogwarts (impossible, but
it's a thought) and I'd probably be googling it and looking for news and articles about it. One thing's for sure, I would want to
be a part of it.
Before being told who the Half-Blood Prince was, what did you think about the title?
When I first found out about the title of the book, I imagined Harry would be the half-blood prince. It never occurred to me that Snape would be the prince. I find the title very quizzical and attention-grabbing.
Draco is pressured to follow in his parents footsteps. Do you think that he truly
believes in the way of the Death Eaters or has he simply been influenced by his
upbringing?
I think that as he grew older, Draco started to realize that he doesn't want to be a part of the Death Eaters. He was definitely influenced
by his family and background that he feels he had no other choice. After all, dark magic runs in his family for centuries. Im pretty sure deep down Draco is a good person.
From the trailers we have seen thus far, it seems as though the movie won't focus
too much on Harry's Potions Book. How do you think the lack of "Half-Blood Prince"
scenes will hurt the movie?
Yes, I've always thought something was really missing in the released trailers. So far we haven't seen a scene on the potions book
which really disappointed me as the potions book is a crucial matter of the whole story. I think that if they don't put a lot of details
about the potions book in the movie, then it would sort of lose its essence since the title itself is centered on the potions book. But, we have only seen the trailers and we don't know how it'll turn out so I say just buckle up and get ready for the real adventure in July!!
What about the exclusion of The Gaunts and Voldemort's past? Bill &
Fleur? Dumbledore's Funeral?
Okay, I did not know this information and I am shocked! This is bizarre! I can't believe they're going to exclude these parts! I especially would love to see Bill and Fleur as well as Dumbledore's funeral-- I think it should be put in the movie! Dumbledores funeral is my favorite parts in Half-Blood Prince... These scenes that'll be left out are all important roots of the book and excluding them would disappoint the fans. Whatever they do I really hope that the movie will turn out great.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
Thank you Mugglenet for picking me as your Fan of The Week! I have been your loyal viewer for years!
