Potter Profile - Lauren

First off, how did you become a Harry Potter fan?
I think I first became a fan when my grandparents got me the first four books for Christmas one year (I might have been eight at the time?). I hated wearing my glasses at that age, so I didn't really get around to reading the books until I was about eleven. I had seen the released movies, but I just didn't care for reading very much. That is, until I actually started wearing my glasses and found out that reading really wasn't so bad after all (and since it was Harry Potter, that helped too!)
It has been over two years since Deathly Hallows came out and we found out
how the series ended. Do you have the same reaction to the ending now, as
you did then?
Oh, yeah, I definitely still get a little teary-eyed when I reread parts of Deathly Hallows, especially towards the end when Harry goes back into the forest and uses the Resurrection Stone. Plus, knowing it's the end of a brilliantly written saga that has proved to have the potential to stand the test of time... yes, my reaction is still the same!
There are quite a few organizations/clubs at Hogwarts. Which you would rather join and why: Dueling Club, Dumbledore's Army, or S.P.E.W.?
Dumbledore's Army - I would rather join DA than the others because of the chance to learn how to use the vital spells, defensive and offensive, that would be needed to protect oneself (and the awesome bunch of characters that were a part of it!)
If you could attend Hogwarts, Which class do you think would be your favorite?
I think it would be a toss-up between DADA and Transfiguration. I think the subject of Transfiguration would be really fascinating since it seems to be one of the more 'hands-on' courses at Hogwarts. McGonagall seems like she would be a fantastic, albeit strict, teacher.
As for DADA, a lot of my favorite characters have taught the subject (Remus and Severus, for example), and I just think that the topics would be neat to learn about. Oh, and a fair few of the exciting parts of the series have been about DADA teachers and how the class is being taught.
Which class would be your best, whether you liked it or not?
I'm not sure, but my gut instinct is telling me that Charms or Potions would be one of my best subjects. Hogwarts subjects deviate rather heavily away from what we're taught, so I honestly couldn't pick a subject that I think I'd do best at. I suppose Potions is sort of like a science, and I enjoy science classes (yay for blowing things up, creating new substances, and making messes!)
Okay, be honest. We got you this year with our April Fool's story about JKR writing a Potter prequel featuring Elvendork. However, if she really wrote it, it would be so...
I have to say I'm not quite sure how to answer this one!
I'm rather ashamed to say that I don't remember this very well. I must not have gotten online for the April Fool's stuff this year!
Is there anything else you would like to add?
I would like to thank you guys for choosing me as the fan of the week and for running a truly awesome, up-to-date website! I would also like to thank Reagan, my long time roleplaying buddy, for forcing me to submit my application in the first place. I wouldn't have hit the send button if it hadn't been for her! Finally, I must thank the awesome grandparents of mine that got me the first four books.[Hmm... Team Marauders! =) Gotta love those guys even though they had a fair share of issues! Werewolves, traitors, and Animagi... OH MY!]
