Potter Profile - Lindsey

May 1, 2005

What is your favorite Harry Potter book and why?
Right now, it's a tie between GoF and OotP. They both are so rich in detail and have some of the best moments. I admire Jo for not lulling the reader into a false sense of security. A war is emerging, and there will be casualties. I did not like that Sirius had to die, but it made Harry all the more complex as a character.

Did you like the third movie or not and why?
I did like it, though CoS is my favorite of the three. I liked that Alfonso Cuaron hinted at the Hermione/Ron pairing throughout the movie, and the overall appearance of the film made it feel appropriately darker. It was, I admit, a movie I learned to love, because the abrupt Firebolt flight ending and lack of the Marauder's Map storyline were a bit disappointing.

If you could spend the day as one character from the books, who would it be?
If she existed, I would love to be Oliver Wood's girlfriend.... But out of the characters we know, I'd like to spend the day as Hermione. She loves books and learning (I do too) and having Ron and Harry as best friends would be awesome. We'd certainly never be bored.

What do you think of all this "relationship" arguments about who will end up with who, etc.?
I think the signs all point to Ron/Hermione. Yes, Harry and Hermione have a great relationship, but there's no spark, no conflict. The fact that Ron and Hermione clash so much just shows the tense feelings between them. It has been said that a guy marries a girl like his mother, and who could be more like Molly than Hermione? The same could go for Harry. Ginny is like Lily in appearance, and also seems to be quite gifted as a witch.

What is your favorite moment of the series so far?
One of my favorites is in SS, when Hagrid gives the photo album to Harry. That's when I became hooked on the books. Another favorite is in OotP, when the kids meet up with Gilderoy Lockhart again at St. Mungo's, and all he's doing is his "joined-up" autographs for everybody.

Who do you think the Half-Blood prince is?
I've noticed a pattern in the book titles: each title is a concept that we do not yet understand until reading the book. I don't know if this is on purpose or not, but based on this I believe the Half-Blood prince is someone we have not been introduced to yet. If it is someone we know, I really have no guesses. I have a feeling we will all be surprised at the revelation.

Do you have anything else you'd like to add? Maybe a theory you've concocted, a shout-out?
First of all, thank you MuggleNet for choosing me!! As I have read on many a Harry Potter site/message board, I believe the definition of "Half-Blood prince" is debatable. He could be a Half-Blood, or just a ruler of them, etc. Here's a shout-out for my sister Kelsey, who loves HP as much as I do and has so much fun reading and watching the movies with me. Also, to Katie, who has spent tons of time discussing all things Harry Potter with me. May the debates continue!
