Potter Profile - Nikki

May 8, 2005

What is your favorite Harry Potter book and why?
Prisoner Of Azkaban because I relate most with Professor R.J. Lupin. He has a "hidden disability" one might say...and I do too - depression, and I sometimes feel like a werewolf! Also, I see Dementors as DEPRESSION themselves...dark and cold coming to suck my soul right out of me and I don't think I'll ever feel happy again. I NOW say,"Expecto Patronum!" and imagine a shield of GOOD POWERFUL ENERGY BLASTING them away! Also Boggarts...I relate to them to anxiety...because anxiety can SHAPE SHIFT.... A job interview: anxiety, NEW people: anxiety, starting a new class: anxiety.... So I NOW think: "Riddikulus!" and imagine them coming to life in CRAZY FORMS...A new job: flying on a broom throwing peanuts down to people...boy that is FUNNY! If I cannot think of anything FUNNY, I borrow from the book/movie - SNAPE in a funny dress and hat! (OH and don't forget just a piece of chocolate, it helps, it really does!)

Did you like the third movie or not and why?
I loved the 3rd movie. For the reasons above and because I got to see Buckbeak. I also LOVED the scene where Hermione punches Draco. I LOVED the beautiful outdoor scenery also. I read a lot of posts where people say things like: "THEY left out WHY this..." OR They left out THIS"...etc. A movie has a limited amount of time. WE KNOW how the story goes...OUR minds should be able to fill in the blanks. Also a movie is another person's interpretation of the book...and it is bound to differ a little bit. But in my opinion it was the best movie thus far. However, I cannot wait to see "GOF". I also love the development of the actors/actresses right along with the characters in the book and I hope they all stay for the remainder of the movies.

If you could spend the day as one character from the books, who would it be?
I would say dear Hagrid! I love him so! He has a BIG heart for ALL the creatures! I think he did a wonderful job as a teacher! In life we need to learn to respect all animals - even and especially the BIG AND SCARY! Yes, indeed Hagrid, I relate to him in a BIG way!

What do you think of all this "relationship" arguments about who will end up with who, etc.?
Silly! But entertaining as well. I am hoping Ron and Hermione of course! For Harry? I think he has to be careful, any girl might be after him for THAT SCAR! LOL, I mean the popularity behind it! Whoever SHE is for Harry, she better love and respect him because he is a great guy! I am not sure if I like Cho for his girl, she is nice and all, but I think maybe a NEW girl might come into Harry's life in the other books. OR he might not have anyone special, just close girl and guy friends.

What is your favorite moment of the series so far?
In POA, when Harry Finds out the TRUTH about Sirius Black and has HOPE of moving out away from The Dursley's! Also the stronger Harry is feeling about himself and being a Wizard.

Who do you think the Half-Blood prince is?
Someone we have not really SEEN, but maybe know about somehow, I mean WE, the readers, will say,"OF COURSE! " but until we read it will not have a clue! J.K. Rowling has a way of doing that to us, doesn't she? I mean look at Sirius Black, what a "WOW! But OF COURSE!" moment that was! I felt the SURPRISE and shock as did Harry, Hermione and Ron. I have stopped thinking about it, we still have 45 days, 20 hours, 15 minutes and 1 seconds til the BOOK comes out. (Thanks to MuggleNet for the desk top counter!)

Do you have anything else you'd like to add? Maybe a theory you've concocted, a shout-out?
I have expressed my theory about Dementors and Boggarts. So I would like to say a warm THANKS to J.K. Rowling for being so creative and turning her life as a single mom around and trying so hard to make her life positive. This inspires me. I am a single Mom, of three adult girls. I am also trying hard to write. With the books Rowling has written I feel I can make it through anything and make a better life for myself too! Oh and July 16th is MY Birthday also! THANKS JO! Many Many Thanks! And Thanks MuggleNet for a wonderful JOB well done on the site.
