Potter Profile - Becky

March 13, 2002

I have almost every piece of Harry Potter merchandise out there. I have the HP bedsheets and pillowcases, Harry Potter book-ends, HP mousepad, posters galore, and pictures from the movie all over my computer desktop, walls, desk, tack-board...pretty much EVERYWHERE. Not only do I have pictures all over in my room, they are also all over my school books, locker at school, and I even have a folder that is made entirely from magazine pictures from the movie.

I love to paint Harry Potter stuff. I have painted about 15 different scenes (so far) plus numerous solitary pictures of characters from the Harry Potter books and even started to sell them to my friends. I have done all of the Harry Potter book covers, the scene where Harry meets his Patronus, the Priori Incantatem scene, the first task, random pictures of Harry, Ron, Hermione, and all of the Gryffindor Quidditch team...and this is just to mention a few.

MuggleNet (Emerson): How and when did you get in to Harry Potter?
Becky: I got into Harry Potter last year during a speech course. My friend was talking about the books in one of her speeches and I was quite intrigued by this boy who finds out he is a wizard and goes off to a witchcraft and wizardry school....and then I decided to read the books for myself and I became obsessed and couldn't get enough!

Which Harry Potter book is your favorite?
I think it would have to be book 3. I adore each book, but the Quidditch Final chapter I could read again and again. I just love it. And two of my favorite characters (Remus Lupin and Sirius Black) are first introduced in this book.

What character can you relate to most?
I think it would be Fred and George. I love to laugh (and make other people laugh) and my friends and I are constantly sneaking around the school to try and find different ways into weird areas...sadly we've discovered nothing as exciting as what Fred and George have found though. =)

What do you think of the inevitable boy/girl stuff coming in book 5?
Definitely. I don't want the books to be "overcome" with the mushy stuff, but I would like to see how J.K. Rowling adds a little bit of the flirtatious mood into the Hogwarts scene.

Who do you think Harry will "hook up with" in book 5? What about Ron?
I'm not sure about Harry, but I would really like to see Ron and Hermione hook up. You know there is something there and it would just be funny to see how their 'relationship' would work.

What character do you think will die in book 5?
I really don't want them to die (of course) but I have a bad feeling that it will be either Hagrid or Ginny. They are both so 'in love' with Harry, that I think they might risk their lives for his. =(

Which school house would you want to be in? Do you think the Sorting Hat would place you in that house?
I would like to be in Ravenclaw, and I think the Sorting Hat would put me there too....I have always been smart and clever...it just fits.

Do you have anything else you'd like to add? Maybe a theory you've concocted, a shout-out, praise for yours truly?
Umm...thanks for recognizing my obsession....not that most people haven't. ;) And, hey Aggie! (she loves my HP paintings...she really got me going with 'em).

September 1998 - Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone is published by Scholastic in the United States. J.K. Rowling received $105,000 from Scholastic to receive the American rights. This was very rare for an unknown (at the time) author.

This is night, Diddykins. That's what we call it when it goes all dark like this.

Natalie McDonald, who appeared in Harry Potter and Goblet of Fire, was based on a real girl Rowling knew who was dying of leukemia. She wrote to JK Rowling asking what was going to happen in the next Harry Potter book as she would not live long enough to read it.
