Potter Profile - Kirbee

May 18, 2003

I used to be a Potter-hater. When Goblet of Fire came out, it was on the ten o'clock news, and they showed kids in line even then, waiting for it to be released. I laughed and called them morons and whatnot, and then I read the books, and my opinion completely changed. Now, I love the books, and as soon as I get off of work on June 21st, I'll be at Books-A-Million to pick up my reserved copy.

How and when did you get in to Harry Potter?
I was introduced to Harry Potter when I was in the eighth grade, three years ago. My English teacher read The Sorceror's Stone to us, and I bought the rest on my own to read.

Which Harry Potter book is your favorite?
My favorite book is The Prisoner of Azkaban because it involves so much Pre-Harry stuff. We find out a little more about his dad and Severus, and a lot more about Sirius and Remus, who are introduced in that book. I love the way that Sirius was blatantly singled out as the bad guy for the entire time, and then he ends up being Harry's innocent godfather.

What character can you relate to most?
None of the characters are anywhere near my double, but I am most like Hermione because of my school-savvy. Although I constantly pray I'm not anywhere near that annoying, she's my least favorite character in the entire series.

What do you think of the inevitable boy/girl stuff coming in book 5?
I think that Harry will admire girls of course, but I don't think he'll enter any official relationships. I think he gets into way too much trouble had has too many secrets to actually be able to carry off a girlfriend, not to mention he is the Boy Who Lived.

Who do you think Harry will "hook up" with in book 5? What about Ron?
I'm personally hoping for Ginny, although I reallistically think the the odds are slim to none and slim just left town. For Ron, I think it'll be either Hermione or some other girl that we don't really know much about.

What character do you think will die in book 5?
Hmm, that's a tough one. Everytime I guess about anything in the books, my hopes are shot down by the next chapter. Apparently I'm not so insightful. I think a not-so-obvious person will die, somebody that hasn't even crossed our minds yet. So, in that spirit, I'll go with Severus Snape just because I can't imagine him actually dying. What would the books be without his gruesome self?

Which school house would you want to be in? Do you think the Sorting Hat would place you in that house?
I would like to be in Gryffindor since Harry is there, but I don't think that would actually happen, I'm really a big wimp. I think there's a good chance I would be put in Slytherin, I'm highly ambitious, and if I'm just not cut out for Slytherin, I would most likely be in Ravenclaw.

Do you have any interesting HP stories to share?
Nothing too special, except that Harry Potter has introduced me to the addictive world of fanfiction. I love to read and write it. I've got a couple fanfics on harrypotter.com and fanfiction.net. I'm a HUGE Lily and James fanfic lover.

And when the COS movie came out, the entire town knew I was going to watch it, and everybody asked me about it the next time they saw me. I talked about it for weeks beforehand. Granted, our town has 1,700 people, but still, they all knew.

Do you have anything else you'd like to add? Maybe a theory you've concocted, a shout-out?
Well...since you mention it, I do happen to have a theory that will probably be dashed down on June 21st, just because JK likes to do that sort of stuff. And to be honest it's an off-the-wall sort of thing. You see, I think James Potter is really a ghost. JKR has said that we won't see an alive Lily or James again, but if he's a ghost then he wouldn't be alive. She has also said that we'll find out more of what makes a ghost as ghost. In Casper it was unfinished business, and if she adopted that theory, then the thought that his son could be killed at any time by Voldemort could be the unfinished business. And maybe the new area will be James's haunting spot! Well, I can dream....

Hi to all my friends at school, and at harrypotter.com!
