MuggleNet Job: News Editor, Content Manager
Years at MN: 5 1/2
How did you come to work at MN?
I had been running my own Potter website for a couple of years and then saw a job opening on MuggleNet for a General Content Manager. I got really excited to see the opportunity as I had been a follower of MuggleNet for years. I applied and bugged Ben nonstop to hire me!
Were you a visitor of MN before you worked for the site?
Yes
Out of the many jobs that you have, which is your favorite?
Posting news because the Potter community relies on it on a daily or even hourly basis.
How has MuggleNet affected your life offline?
Most of my current friends are those who I've met through MuggleNet, so it has affected me greatly! My life would be entirely different without them.
Do you have any tips or suggestions for the fans out there that would like to do what you do, IE: Going to premieres, podcasting, meeting the stars?
Be passionate about what you want to achieve, and with a little added luck you can get there! It takes a lot of determination and hard work to get what you want.
How did you become a Harry Potter fan?
My 4th grade teacher read us the first book in class. Afterwards I went to a bookstore and found Chamber of Secrets had just been released. I bought it and started my long Potter fan life!
How are you feeling now that the series is over?
It's sad but I have faith there will be a very large group of people sticking together through it all. There are tons and tons of friendships that can't be broken by the series just being over.
It has been over three years since Deathly Hallows came out and we found out how the series ended. Do you have the same reaction to the ending now, as you did then?
The fandom is so focused on the films now that I think it is hard to remember the reaction at the end. I do remember being with my best friends though for the release and reading, so it still has a nice place in my heart. I think Part 2's release will again remind us all of the impact of the series.
You've heard so much about a test that you're going to need to take first thing when you get to Hogwarts! You are terrified until you see that it's only a hat that sits on your head, and shouts out the house that you've been sorted into. What does the hat tell you?
GRYFFINDORRRRR.
There are quite a few organizations/clubs at Hogwarts. Which you would rather join and why: Dueling Club, Dumbledore's Army, or S.P.E.W.?
S.P.E.W. would be the first club I join because I fell in love with that plot line in the books. On my old Potter website I made an online S.P.E.W. club that fans could sign up/pledge on and I'd e-mail them a badge!
Congratulations! You made the Quidditch Team for your house, and first year's NEVER make the team! What position are you playing?
If I HAD to pick one position (as I'm not much of an athlete) I'd pick Seeker. I think I have great eyesight and cat-like reflexes, which should make for decent seeking.
If there was a way to make a Horcrux without committing murder, would you do it?
I'd probably just make one as a back up.
Finally, which Hallow are you most drawn to and why?
The Invisibility Cloak. It's the most fun.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
Thanks to all the fans for their support of MuggleNet and MuggleCast over the years! We couldn't do all this without you.
