We saw the movie today at a special preview in our local cinema in Sandwich, Kent (UK). The film was fantastic. It was very true to the book and the characters were brilliant. The quidditch game was out of this world and just how we had imagined it.
The two and a half hours went very quickly and at the end of the movie the general opinion of those around us in the cinema was that it was a great success and worth seeing again and again and again!!
Roll on HP2 and the fifth book.
Hope that all of you out there going to see the movie from the 16th will enjoy it as much as we have. I think we will be going again soon!

For the most part, I found the movie to be great! The beginning was a little out of place with all the cut out scenes, but the rest was brilliant! I don't really like Radciff all that much, but Rupert was perfect! I find it hard to think that the other movies will be thing great for one main reason: length. The first book was the smallest and was 2 hours and 33 minutes. The second is a little longer, and the third and forth are at least twice as long. How does Warner Brothers plan on making the other movies? It would be hard to cut that much of a book/movie without destroying it. Overall the movie was great, but don't get your hopes up for the future movies if WB wants to keep their movies short.

Harry Potter and the Philosopher's stone is the best movie I have seen this year!
Where should I start, well the put-outer was really cool and I admit to whispering "cool" when Dumbledore put out the lamps.
The zoo scene was funny when Dudley fell through the glass.
When they were on the train and the had the chocolate frogs and the frog jumps out of the window, well Ron did warn him!
The best part was either the Quidditch match or the Chess game. The Quidditch match was full of action and thrills and when Harry looked like he was going to be sick and he coughed out the Snitch, I was like, cool. The chess match was cool because it was full of action and the way they won was wicked.
I have to say that although they changed it a bit it was stillfull of humor and action. I give Harry Potter and the Philosopher's stone 10 out of 10! - Lil

I would give this movie a nine out of ten! This movie is missing one mark because they cut a lot out of the book that would not have taken long and is necessary to the story. They missed out the bottled potion part, which would have explained why hermione got her points at the end of the year feast, and they also missed out the part where they took Norbert to the top of the tower to give to Charlie's friends too take to romania. But I suppose they had to skip out some parts so people would not get bored, and it would have gone on for more than 2 hours and a half. I hope they add on the parts when it comes out on VHS or DVD.
The acting in this movie was excellent. You could not have wished for a better cast, they all portrayed their characters exactly right. Everything was how I imagined it. A lot of the scenes were better than best, especially the Quidditch scene. The Fluffly part was good because the actors had to pretend the dog was there while they were filming this part and the dog was added later.
I think Emma Watson, Rupert Grint and Daniel Radcliffe were perfect for their parts it was like they were related to the characters, when I saw them in the movie they were exactly how I expected them to be. Hagrid, Professor Mcgonagall, Albus, Snape and Quirrell were good to they were taken right out of the book and into the movie they all were fit to play their parts. Draco, Crabbe and Goyle could have been more meaner in this movie towards the three main characters. They were really good at acting and were perfect for the part but they weren't as mean as the book suggested. This goes for the Dursley's to they could have read their lines with a bit more anger. Neville, Seamus, and Dean, I thought, should have had bigger parts in the movie because we saw two scenes with Dean and Seamus in it. Neville was in a couple small parts and one big part when Ron, Harry, and Hermione were sneaking out. They were a little different that what I expected but they could have had bigger parts.
I give this movie a nine out of ten!
