Alnwick Castle

Alnwick Castle is the location for filming of the Hogwarts Flying Lessons.

AlnwickThe Duke of Northumberland, owner of Alnwick Castle, claims: "We are fortunate and privileged in being a location for Hogwarts School in the forthcoming Harry Potter film."

Apparently, the castle served as the location for the Hogwarts House Cup Quidditch matches. Zoe Wanamaker, who plays Madam Hooch, the broomstick flying instructor, has confirmed that she was present for a round of filming at Alnwick Castle in the last week of September 2000. "Around 30 children, cloaked in their scholarly wizard robes, were learning to fly broomsticks in front of Alnwick Castle," says Robert Brooks of the Northumberland Gazette. Children from Lindisfarne Middle School in Alnwick were cast to complete the class.
