"Yes, we do now know that it's Ron and Hermione. I do feel that I have dropped heavy hints. ANVIL-sized, actually, hints, prior to this point. I certainly think even if subtle clues hadn't been picked up by the end of “Azkaban,” that by the time we hit Krum in Goblet..."

-- J.K. Rowling, in an interview with MuggleNet and TLC on July 16, 2005

A note from the unprofessional, arrogant, unprofessional, insensitive, unprofessional, immature, inconsiderate, unprofessional, irresponsible, unprofessional, juvenile, unprofessional, tactless and unprofessional Wall of Shame founder and caretaker, Emerson:

I think Harry/Hermione shippers on the whole have carried themselves well since the revelations in HBP, and I respect them for that, but some have not been so graceful in their "defeat;" the crazies have given me enough material for a Great Wall of Shame.

Most of these posts are from a public thread on the H.M.S. Harmony (Harry/Hermione ship) forum. I don't make a habit of visiting, except I was kindly invited by the site admin to a thread where I was pleasantly surprised to find there were people burning me in effigy and planning my painful and not-so-far-in-the-future demise. As they've taken it upon themselves to share on their turf, I have taken it upon myself to share on mine. Come on, you didn't see this coming? I've always been a smart-ass.

You can read the "blasphemous" MuggleNet/TLC interview with JK Rowling here. The shipping parts are about 2/3 of the way down on part two and the bottom of part three.

If you didn't know: "ship" = relationship

Mad-Eye Mike [Lead Lemming]: This main forum will now function for one purpose - to give each and every H/Hr shipper the opportunity to respond to J.K. Rowling and the two morons from MN and TLC who interviewed her. Here you may answer the charges of H/Hr shippers being delusional, militant and angry. You may express your views and show why the evidence was there for the H/Hr ship, even if Ms. Rowling, unfortunately, did not see it.

You're free to post your analysis, essays, personal letters, etc., with your insights into the series (even in hindsight); why you shipped Harmony; the evidence you saw in canon; the writing mistakes you feel were made; the lack of and contradictory nature of the so-called, "ANVIL-sized" [hints]; the misuse of symbolism and much more.

So please, use this forum to let her know the way you feel about her comments, or point out how, why and where she went wrong in her development of the characters, or simply discuss how she will have missed a golden opportunity to tell one of the greatest love stories ever told.

*Underline is mine.

Trimalchio: Emerson and Co. : you are the anvil, we are intelligence and JKR is the hammer.

There is nothing I could possibly say that could make this seem any more ridiculous.

k_immortal J.K. Rowling is a b**** with no talent for writing. I can't defend her anymore. All those H/Hr moments were written by accident. All those symbolism we found were probably just us being delusional...

Dingdingding!

MysticKnight: Emerson, let me know when you finally grow pubes and move out of your parents house.

That would be a mighty insult were I not a college-bound high school graduate.

Maestro: Maybe you are right MK but weren't we the more smart people....do we need to get to the level of the Herons even though we lost?

No, you were not the "more smart" people. Sink to the level of the Herons? I don't see any R/Hrs insulting your living quarters and pubic-area development.

Harmione2005: Oh man, I'm lmao.

Emerson, Melissa... Why not treat others as you would like to be treated? How would you have felt if Harmony sailed and we laughed at you? How would you feel if we called you delusional when you were already feeling down because your ships didn't sail? You wouldn't have like it would you?

Hi, lmao:

I'm sure I wouldn't care. You see, I, unlike you, can take a joke. I'd be a little disappointed - yes, just a LITTLE - but I think there's more to life than obsessing about the love lives of a bunch of fictional characters, and I would be disappointed if I didn't get an earful of I-Told-You-So's on the part of the Harry/Hermione shippers. Both parties have been claiming to be right for years; I think we've earned the right to a little gloating. Immature? Probably. But I'm 18 and IDGRA.

...

Look it up.

Danielle: :rotfl: some of the comments are so funny.

Finally, something we agree on.

I wish we could make Emerson pay but I dont think we can do anything and he is still laughing at us.

Right again!

No Matter what Mugglenet is the biggest HP site and I dont see that changing. So he is an Ass but we can not win just by name calling and he is still admired by most of the HP fandom.

You forgot to mention how unprofessional, arrogant, unprofessional, insensitive, unprofessional, immature, inconsiderate, unprofessional, irresponsible, unprofessional, juvenile, unprofessional, tactless and unprofessional I am.

halfbloodprincess: *thinks, which I thought was impossible for a delusional person...* Could it be possible to take legal action? Probably not... again, just thinking. I think what Emerson said could be considered libel if he named anyone specifically. I don't know, I'm not a lawyer.

That much is very, very obvious.

Hey - getting a thought here - you could sue me for being unprofessional, arrogant, unprofessional, insensitive, unprofessional, immature, inconsiderate, unprofessional, irresponsible, unprofessional, juvenile, unprofessional, tactless and unprofessional!

Nathaniel suggests a boycott of MuggleNet's CoS Forums:

And honestly, I suggest others do the same. It may hurt the forums to lose so many original posters. Let's give up on Emerson, too. Maybe his site will be forced into the ground without us...

PaisleyPi has different ideas:

It might be better to have Harmonians there representing our ideals since those sites are so well established. I even wonder if it might be a good idea for more of us to post there more often since that is where our voices are likely to be heard by greater numbers. ... If hundred of Harmonians crowded their forums defending the ideals represented by Harmony, that might be very powerful. We could weave examples and ideas of why H/Hr would have been better than H/G or R/Hr into every topic. We could post essays and speculate about how perfect H/Hr would have been and how this could have been a story of great love conquering a vast evil.

"Oh, good Lord. They are slain, and yet they remain upright, walking slowly and moaning for brains...yes, friends, it's the H/H Zombie fen. They're dead, but they won't stay buried. They'd probably think that's a compliment, but they're no Second Coming. They're Plan Nine from Outer Space." -- someone with a good sense of humor

kristina2477: Maybe she is giving her readers some secret lesson in life. That you can't always accept things that are face value and are easy; and choose to believe things that are shallow and not deep. Maybe there will be this huge twist in book seven where she slams down on a large population of her reader's and tells them, "Are you guys really that shallow!? Why can't you be more like the delusional militants that dig deeper for things in life?" And they'll say, "What about the hints? The anvil sized hints!?" and we come in and say, "Those anvil sized hints probably hit ya'll in the head a few too many times!".

DFlataphilia: She [JKR] is no genius afterall - what you see is what you get. Too bad that Harmonians do seem to be more intelligent, thoughtful, and brilliant than she is, which is probably why she's been treating us the way she has lately. Truth hurts!

No, stupidity hurts. I cracked a rib laughing so hard.

Otter Snow has a petition.

The Harmonians have rallied together with a new war cry and a group name:

Dear Emerson, You say -we- should get over shipping, and don't belong at -your- website. And yet -you- cannot seem to pry yourself away from -our- forums.

So, we have a deal for you: You first.

Harmoniously yours,
The Harry/Hermione Militia.

Ironic, isn't it, that you're telling me to stay the hell away from your forums when you invited me in the first place.

But I'm sure glad you did - you gave me enough material for this whole page!

The responses for the next two were shamelessly ripped from the Fandom Wank LJ because they were just.that.funny. Props to ahiru for the icon, xero sky, dax 069 and especially prettyveela.

Panther: Ya know, come to think of it, people like Emerson were probably the kinda people that started slavery. I mean, think about it, they thought the slaves were animals, just because they had different colored skin.

Emerson thinks we're stupid and delusional for having different beliefs. Get the similarities here, people?

Ah yes, I can hear the H/Hr's of yesteryear telling their great-great-great grandkids about the spiritual songs they used to sing.

When Israel was in Egypt's Land,
Let my people go!
Opressed so hard they could not stand,
Let my people go!

Go down, Moses,
Way down in Egypt's Land.
Tell ol' Pharoah Emerson,
Let my people go!

Yes, those poor slaves. If only someone had told them that they could avoid the whippings, beatings, and rapings by simply turning off the computer and getting a life.

Now, I'm not black, but boy, do I feel for the black people. If I lived in the 1800's, I wouldn't keep slaves, and if someone has a difference of opinion than me now, that's fine, believe what you want.

You wouldn't keep slaves, but if someone else wanted to, that's fine because it's just a 'difference of opinion'?

So... how much does a healthy H/Hr fan with good teeth go for these days?

Andee Granger felt her post was taken out of context, so I will put it in context for you:

What's the similarity between physically, mentally and sexually abusing slaves and to calling shippers delusional?

Anndee Granger: There isn't, but I can see where they were going with this...a different analogy would probably have been better.

Maybe the religious persecution during Mary Tudor's reign, or the Salem Witch Hunt/Trials, the religous crusades, the wars in Bosnia etc.

We harmonians are being "persecuted" for our differening viewpoints/perspectives.

Oh yes - much more fitting analogies of H/Hr oppression! Shippers being burned at the stake! Mass genocide!

UnderYourSkin: If JKR tried to publish the HP series during the time of the Salem Witch Trials she probably would have found herself being hunted down like the rest of the ,supposed, witches.

S.P.E.W.: [Regarding the San Francisco Chronicle article on shipping] The more publicity this gets, the less JKR can ignore it, and the greater the possibility that we might get some answers.

What, you mean, answers like, "Yes, we do now know that it's Ron and Hermione"?

Shob: I wouldn`t be suprised at all, if it turns out that in fact over 50% of HP fans are H/Hr shippers. And Rowling is about to lose half of her fan base.

I'm sure JK is shaking in her boots.

50%, eh? I'm thinking of a word that starts with D and ends with L. I've used it before. Three guesses.

lovesharry: Emerson could very well be scared that the H/Hr shippers are right about HP. He may be buddies with JKR but I'm sure she will NOTshare anything about book 7 with him. And yes, book 7 is still this huge literary enigma. Nobody but JKR knows the outcome. So, I think we are back to square one (before HBP) and the question again is - Will it be R/Hr or H/Hr? Since Harry did break off his relationship with Ginny in HBP, then I believe Ginny is no longer a part of the romance triangle.

Um, dude, did you even read book 6? Or the interview? Or seen Spider-Man?

This next one by "Redemption" is a gift to me from God - this kind of insanity doesn't come my way very often. The first part of the tirade contained the usual stuff about me being the spawn of satan, so I'll spare you and move straight to the good stuff. This is a long one, so if you just want a tree-tops review, read the bolded text and skip the rest. Thanks to sabinelagrande for the icon.

JKR sold the movie- and merchandise-rights of HP to [Warner Bros., which is owned by] AOLTimewarner, so everytime you and I paid money to see a HP-movie in cinemas and everytime someone bought HP-merchandise we have supported forced abortions in China.

That's right, kids...

Meh, now you ask yourself what the crazy tin-foil-hat conspiracy nutcases are talking about now.

Can I ask you a question, deary? Are you wearing anything silver and shiny on your head right now?

This man: http://www.frostwald.de/turner.bmp is Ted Turner, media super-mogul and vice-chairman of TimeWarner until 2003. He gave 1 billion$ to the U.N. in order to support a global "de-population policy". Turner’s gift, it turns out, is not as generous as described in media reports. An amount of up to $1 billion will be donated in the form of Time-Warner stock in ten annual installments. The cost to Turner could be significantly less than $1 billion if he takes advantage of tax write-offs, tax deductions and ways to avoid estate taxes. Amazingly, USA Today claims "Turner, or at least his heirs, could end up $100 million richer because he’s giving a billion away."

Turner has a long history of support for population control activities. Turner and wife Jane Fonda served as "Goodwill Ambassadors" for UNFPA. Fonda now leads a Georgia campaign against teen pregnancy, partly funded by a private condom maker.

JANE FONDA IS AGAINST TEENAGERS HAVING SEX AND GETTING PREGNANT! OMG! I'm never buying another one of her workout videos again!

According to Nicholas Eberstadt, a population expert with the American Enterprise Institute in Washington, D.C., Turner is on record in favor of a radical policy that Eberstadt calls "de-population." As recently as last month, the father of five children called for a worldwide one-child-per-family policy to reduce the world population. "We could do it in a very humane way, if everybody adopted a one-child policy for 100 years," Turner told participants at the annual meeting of the National Family Planning and Reproductive Health Association in Washington, D.C.

Once honored as "Humanist of the Year" by the American Humanist Association, Turner’s stridency on population control has earned him a reputation as an anti-Christian bigot. In remarks last October to the Society of Environmental Journalists, he complained that the Judeo-Christian tradition emphasizes "dominion over everything" and "increase and multiply." Turner once told a Dallas Morning News reporter that Christianity is "a religion for losers" and "I don’t want anybody [i.e., Jesus Christ] to die for me."

Wirth also is no stranger to population control efforts. In addition to his Planned Parenthood work in Colorado, Wirth led the State Depart-ment’s defense of a Clinton administration decision to deport several Chinese women who sought asylum in the U.S. to avoid forced abortion and sterilization in their native country.

At the urging of Rep. Chris Smith (R-NJ), chairman of the House Subcommittee on International Operations and Human Rights, Congress has cut off federal funds for UNFPA because the agency has been accused of compliance with the brutal Chinese population control program of one-child-per-family. Congressional hearings have disclosed that the Chinese government has forced many women to have abortions when they exceeded their one-child limit. Some women have testified that they were physically assaulted and forced to undergo abortions when they tried to carry a second child to term. In some cases, baby girls were allegedly abandoned or starved to death in government-run orphanages because of China’s cultural preference for male children. http://www.apfn.org/apfn/turner.htm

So you see: There is more than enough reason to dislike JKR and the whole HP-industry. Emerson and Melissa are obviously part of this industry .

Alas. Exposed.
