The Harry Potter Alliance celebrates International Women’s Day with host of special events

by Keith Hawk · March 5, 2012

March is Women in History Month, and as we recently shared with you, Hermione is one of the all-time greatest women in the history of literature. This month, the Harry Potter Alliance kicks off one of their most amazing campaigns yet!

From the HPA:

Women kick ass. Think about it – where would Harry be if Hermione hadn’t been so prepared to flee the Burrow at a moment’s notice? Katniss Everdeen protected her family, outsmarted the games, and led a country to revolution. Princess Leia lead the entire rebellion against Darth Vader and the Empire. Buffy Summers and Veronica Mars protected Southern California from vampires, demons, and sketchy mayors.

This week, join the Harry Potter Alliance‘s Imagine Better project as we celebrate International Women’s Day by honoring the kick ass female characters that have inspired us:

  • CHECK OUT our blog to learn how Mulan inspired Lauren Fairweather to jump headfirst into the career of her dreams, as well as how other female characters have inspired our guest bloggers this week.
  • LISTEN IN as Andrew Slack makes his first guest appearance tonight (Monday March 5) at 10PM ET on the Hunger Games Fireside Chat discussing the heroine and story that has inspired our month long campaign fighting hunger.
  • SHARE your own inspiration and see what other members have to say on our site.

The Harry Potter Alliance is going to be teaming up with Hunger Games fans and driving into Katniss’ story as part of our Imagine Better project, showing the world that Hunger is NOT a Game!

If you would like to get involved with the HPA, or even begin a chapter in your local area, please contact me at keith@staff.mugglenet.com or contact the HPA directly right here.
