MISTI-Con – The one of a kind Fan Convention Experience – Opens Registration

by Keith Hawk · July 16, 2012

Now that Ascendio 2012 has wrapped up and LeakyCon 2012 is just around the corner, it’s time to begin looking forward to the next Harry Potter Fan Convention, and MISTI-Con is the answer!

After their successful Kickstarter which raised over three times its original goal, the Harry Potter fan convention MISTI-Con is pleased to announce that registration is now open! The event, which takes place May 9-13, 2013 at The Margate Resort in Laconia, New Hampshire, serves to be an intimate experience. The conference will not exceed 500 attendees and the entire space is occupied solely by attendees for the duration.

“With only attendees at The Margate for the conference, there’s no muggles allowed. This means we can decorate the entire resort top-to-bottom, including a 24-hour common room. Even the pool area and outdoor tent for our masquerade gala can be designed and decorated,” said one of the conventions founders, Jon Rosenthal, head organizer of the world’s largest Harry Potter fan group: NY’s The Group That Shall Not Be Named.

Registration, which is available now at right here (or directly through Brown Paper Tickets and comes in three varieties:

  • $110 Full Registration – Early Bird registration available until September 15 (when the price increases) includes 4-day conference pass, access to formal and informal programming tracks, admission to opening ceremonies and closing breakfast, admission to wizard rock night, admission to a special performance by Charlie Ross (of One Man Lord of The Rings and One Man Star Wars fame) and the Ministry Masquerade gala. This option is the basic pass perfect for anyone looking to experience MISTI-Con’s 4 full days of programming.
  • $250 Minister’s VIP Registration – This package includes access to every event MISTI-Con in the full registration, but adds the Keynote Luncheon and the Mother’s Day Sunday Brunch. As an added bonus, registrants will also receive a MISTI-Con t-shirt, priority seating at events, and several other special amenities to be announced. This all-access pass is the ideal choice for the fan who can’t miss anything.
  • $1,250 Chief Mugwump Registration – This very special convention pass includes all the benefits of the Minister’s VIP while adding personal transportation to and from the airport, a special resort spa package, and a full page advertisement or announcement in the convention materials. This is the perfect option for sponsors and other small businesses.

In addition to the above, Keynote Luncheon and Mother’s Day Brunch tickets will be sold separately and at a later date. Transport tickets via Ministry Van from the airport to the Margate Hotel will also be sold as the convention draws nearer.

Early Bird registration ends on September 15, so fans are encouraged to register now. Once you’re registered, make sure to book one of The Margate’s beautiful rooms as staying at the resort is mandatory to attend the conference. Many of the MuggleNet staff will be in attendance, and we will also be holding a LIVE Alohomora! podcast, the MuggleNet Family Feud game, and many more events. This will be a Harry Potter convention you will not want to miss.
