“Harry Potter: The Exhibition” announces next stop on International Tour

by Keith Hawk · March 20, 2013

Harry Potter fans in Japan will soon have the opportunity to step inside the famous wizard’s world with Harry Potter: The Exhibition, hosted at the Mori Arts Center Gallery in Roppongi Hills, Tokyo, beginning June 22, 2013. The blockbuster exhibition, which has been experienced by over 2 million fans, made its world premiere in Chicago in April 2009, and has made stops in Boston, Toronto, Seattle, New York, Sydney, Singapore, and due to high demand is now back in New York City for an encore presentation. The exhibition remains open in New York City through April 7 and then closes its doors to begin its trans-Pacific journey to Japan. Tickets for the exhibition at Mori Arts Center Gallery will be on-sale beginning Saturday, March 23, 2013 at www.harrypotterexhibition.jp.

In partnership with Warner Bros. Consumer Products, Global Experience Specialists (GES) created the 1,400-square- meter experiential exhibition, where visitors are able to enjoy dramatic displays inspired by the Hogwarts film sets and see the amazing craftsmanship behind authentic costumes, props, and creatures from the films.

Experience the world of Harry Potter!

From the moment you enter Harry Potter: The Exhibition you are immediately immersed in the wizard’s world of Harry Potter. Guests are greeted by an exhibit host who sorts several lucky attendees into their favorite Hogwarts houses, then leads them inside the exhibition where their journey to favorite scenes from the Harry Potter films begins. The exhibition features settings from the films’ most popular locations-including the Gryffindor common room and dormitory; classrooms like Potions and Herbology; and the Forbidden Forest-which are filled with hundreds of authentic props, costumes, and creatures used in the filming of the iconic series.

In addition to the beautiful environments and displays, there are several interactive elements. Guests can enter the Quidditch area and toss a Quaffle ball, pull their own Mandrake in the Herbology classroom vignette, and even tour a re-creation of Hagrid’s hut and sit in his giant-sized armchair.

Early Reservation Tickets available beginning March 23

Crowds and long lines are expected due to the school summer holiday so visitors are encouraged to purchase advanced tickets online from Lawson Ticket, at Lawson Ticket stores throughout Japan, from Lawson Ticket office at 0570-000- 777, or through www.harrypotterexhibition.jp. Purchasing advance tickets will save visitors 200 yen off regular day-of admission prices. Early Reservation Tickets will be available at Lawson stores throughout the nation beginning March 23, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. This ticket, saving visitors 300 yen off regular admission, includes a limited-edition Harry Potter: The Exhibition poster. Did You Know

Quidditch started in the 11th century at a place called Queerditch Marsh, which is not marked on Muggle maps because wizards have made the place unplottable. Originally, it was quite a crude game played on broomsticks with just the Quaffle.

Potter History

January 3, 2006 – Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire was named the highest-earning film internationally for 2005. It earned $850 million.

Potter Quote

“Cedric was a person who exemplified many of the qualities that distinguish Hufflepuff house. He was a good and loyal friend, a hard worker, he valued fair play. His death has affected you all, whether you knew him well or not. I think that you have the right, therefore, to know exactly how it came about. […] Cedric Diggory was murdered by Lord Voldemort.”
