Role Call: Voldemort’s MI-5 Career is on Hold as Mad-Eye Joins Priesthood?

by Aimee Krenz · July 2, 2014

Now that our O.W.L.s are taken and we have a moment to breathe a sigh of relief, let’s take a look at what’s happening this week for our favorite cast members!  We have a few trailers, on-set film stills, a secret film project, and some rumored roles to discuss. Check it out:

As many of you who follow our weekly Casting News section may know, Emma Thompson is currently filming Robert Carlyle’s directorial debut, The Long Midnight of Barney Thomson. So far we’ve only seen a one still from the film, but this week, more photos emerged of the actress on set via Just Jared. The film also appears to have received a new title, The Legend of Barney Thomson. You can check them out below:

Mysterious tweets appeared on Friday from Stephen Fry – the actor and television personality has joined forces once again with his 24 co-star, Kiefer Sutherland, on a secret project.  Take a look at his tweets here and here.

According to BBC One, the next season of the UK version of Who Do You Think You Are? will include Potter alum Julie Walters. This will be the 10th season for the series that researches the ancestors of celebrities and will air this summer in the UK.

We may have to wait awhile before we finally get to see Ralph Fiennes in his new role as M in the next James Bond film, which is still without a title. According to SuperHeroHype and The Daily Mail, the script for the film needs major changes, which is holding up production. Changes are expected to be made by previous writers for the franchise with specific intent to add “..the witty repartee between Daniel Craig’s 007 and Naomie Harris’s Miss Moneypenny, and focusing on the interplay between Bond and Ralph Fiennes’s M”. The film is still set to see a November 6, 2015 release date.

Speaking of Fiennes, rumor has it that he is currently in negotiations to star in the Coen brothers comedy, Hail, Caesar! The film, set in Hollywood, would have Fiennes in the role of Laurence Lorenz, a studio director, along side Tatum Channing and Tilda Swinton, who are also rumored to be in negotiations for the film.

Finally, we have a few trailers to show you! Father and son actors Brendan and Domhnall Gleeson have lots of projects hitting the screen and we found two trailers for their respective films – Calvary and Unbroken. In Calvary, Brendan plays Father James Lavelle, a priest who is being blackmailed by someone from his past. Domhnall is also in the film, playing a character named Freddie Joyce. View the trailer below:

In Unbroken, Domhnall helps tell the true life story of Louis Zamperini, an Olympic runner and World War II vet who was captured by the Japanese. Domhnall plays Russell Allen ‘Phil’ Phillips. You can view the trailer below, although the trailer only features Domhnall for a second – blink, and you might miss him!

A trailer and poster for the movie Pride, starring Bill Nighy, Imelda Staunton, and Jessie Cave, has been released. The film tells the story of a group of gay men and women from London who joined with striking miners after the miners union refused to accept a donation from the group. You can view the trailer and poster below:

Potter Quote

“I suggest you both go up to Madam Pomfrey. She is already tending to Miss Fawcett, of Ravenclaw, and Mr. Summers, of Hufflepuff, both of whom decided to age themselves up a little too. Though I must say, neither of their beards is anything like as fine as yours.”
