Calling all UK owners of first and rare editions of “Harry Potter” books!

by Alison Siggard · February 6, 2015

Do you live in the UK and have a rare or first edition of one of the Harry Potter books? Then you could have the chance to be on a television game show pilot!

Emma, a member of the production team, describes the show:

The pilot is a game show in which a pair of contestants get the chance to play for a cash prize. The couple will face eight objects in our ‘gallery’ (each object brought in by either their owner or someone connected to the owner). These eight objects represent a mixture of antique curiosities and modern classics. Our host, and our resident expert, will introduce each of the eight items and discuss the often curious and compelling history surrounding them with their respective owners. The catch is that, despite their interesting stories, the items range from a mere £5 to a huge £15,000 in value. One by one, the contestants must eliminate seven of the eight items, based on which they believe to be the most valuable. As each item is considered we will learn more about it and what makes it special. At the end of the show, after rejecting everything else, the contestants will go home with the value of the last object standing.

The idea in this case is that the general public are unaware of the amazing value of certain Harry Potter books due to them being published so recently in the grand scheme of things. For example, we love the idea of a first edition Philosopher’s Stone being up against an antique Penny Farthing and being more valuable.

We will be filming our pilot on Monday 9th March in London with our celebrity presenter and collectibles expert. We would be able to cover travel expenses as well as provide a fee for our contributors’ attendance on the day.

Interested? You can contact Emma by email at emma.stamp@rdftelevision.com or by phone at 0207 013 4052.

Let us know if you take up this opportunity!
