What Was Your Favorite Part of Expo Patronum?

by Claire Furner · April 21, 2015

Attended MuggleNet Live! 2015: Expo Patronum? Want to tell us what you love most? Well, while you collect your thoughts, here are our team’s favorite moments from the day!

Keith Hawk – My favorite moment during the [C]on was the first Signature Experience. The room was alive with an energy, and excitement was seeping throughout all the corners of the room. There were no Dementors in the area that could penetrate that Patronus… Expo Patronum!

Kat Miller – Is it cheesy to say my favorite part was the whole thing? I got to see bits of everything throughout the day, and I truly loved witnessing the laughter – the languages! – and the nerd.

Claire Furner – Entering the room mid-Paul Harris'[s] wand movement demonstration. Witnessing 10s of fans lined up learning the steps together and then duelling was pretty magical! Oh, and talking Star Wars with Gary Tomkins…

Sierra Davenport – Seeing a French girl in the Photo Booth room, who had traveled so far to get to the Expo, realize her dream of meeting Jessie Cave. She was shaking and crying and almost too timid to approach her, but you could tell that it absolutely made her day once she worked up the nerve, and Jessie was so genuinely touched by it, spending several minutes chatting with her. To me, it was the definition of a magical moment and what the [E]xpo was all about – in bringing both ends of the HP community together.

Mary Wojcicki – How, in the UK, there seems to be more of a mutual respect between talent & fans, and the talent aren’t distrustful or standoffish. For example, when Sierra would ask them in the Photo Booth if there was anything that fans needed to know (i.e., things that they were uncomfortable with), they were all really chill[…].

Amy Lüder – Seeing how incredibly kind every one of the special guests were with the attendees during the Signature Experience. They had so much time and love for everyone. My second favorite had to be when Nat Tena stopped on her way out to see my son, Toby, and say how cute he was!

Toni Cooper – My highlight was actually working on the raffle, just because it was extremely gratifying to witness first hand how generous people were in donating for such a worthy cause. Their enthusiasm for the Expo as a whole was also wonderful to see.

Rosie Morris – The friendly atmosphere! Being able to chat to both stars and fans in between panels and feel so relaxed in a way that I’ve never experienced [at] a convention before. Also, I have to say I loved the double takes of a few Alohomora[!] fans who recognised my voice halfway through a conversation!

Laura Louise – Hanging out with attendees before doors opened and hyping them up alongside Elayna! The cosplays were fantastic, and it was great to see people so enthusiastic.

Eric Scull – My favorite thing was the genuine attitude of the talent toward[…] the fans and the event in general. The cast and crew [both] responded quite positively to fans[;] they were actively engaged in their panel discussions and seemed to truly enjoy being there. Which heightened my own joy in being there.

Sophie Reid – One of my favorite things was being in the autograph room and chatting to the fans, hearing about how excited they were and how much they were enjoying themselves. It was also great to see the lovely interactions between guests and fans and how relaxed everyone was. The buzz in the [S]ignature [E]xperience was fantastic too! And of course, working with such a great team…

Charlie Morris – I thought the audience of the Q&A panels asked some really great and original questions. Loved seeing that creativity and how the panelists played with their ideas. (Fave moment was Alfie cracking up laughing over Warwick’s ‘let’s keep this panel on Topic‘ pun.)

Callum Thomas – My favorite moment was watching Paul Harris lead the fans in the wand demonstrations. Also thought the panels were all excellent, and all of the guests provided some really insightful and funny anecdotes about their time on Potter, which was awesome.

Kirsten Keys – Enjoying hearing the first men’s panel talk about their experience on set. And the differences between those tiny films compared to this huge film set. Second would be seeing the fans take pictures with the talent and their reactions afterwards.

Aimee Krenz – My personal favorite moment was speaking with Nick Moran – what a lovely guy! He speaks so eloquently, and when he’s talking to you, he’s focused just on you, not however many people may be in line behind you.

Elayna Darcy – Getting to sit at the Signature Shop booth and hear people’s amazing stories about how they came to love Harry Potter and seeing them come from so far away to share in that love with other fans. The excitement in the air and the kinds of fans that came made it feel like the midnight movie/book releases that we all long to go back to. It reminded me that even after all these years, the Potter fandom will be together always.
