Emma Watson Is an Eco-Conscious Fashionista!

by Shachi Tiwari · March 9, 2017

She’s a world-renowned actress, model, English literature graduate, and UN Women Goodwill Ambassador. And now, Emma Watson is taking the fashion world by storm!

When she isn’t busy promoting Beauty and the Beast on a worldwide tour or fighting domestic abuse, Emma has been lending her socially conscious voice to the public in hopes of inspiring eco-friendly fashion from her very own wardrobe. She does this by using her same pieces of clothing to create comfy yet stylish looks.

The thing that I wear pretty much every day at the moment is a black cashmere turtleneck, from Chinti and Parker. I wear it every day, and it is like, the softest, warmest hug.

Fewer options mean that getting ready is no longer a problem for Emma, who happily states that her creativity can shine through stronger than ever.

Becoming conscious about dressing has been incredibly liberating, in a funny way. Because it’s narrowed my options so much, I’m so much more creative. I actually really think it’s helped me dress better because I have less, but they’re things that are perfect.

People forget about vintage and secondhand clothes a lot, they forget about buying things that are more durable, or shopping a bit less. Taking care of what you already own, getting shoes resoled. That kind of thing is incredibly sustainable.

Just like Hermione, Emma displays astounding logic when it comes to issues that she deeply cares about: her passion for eco-fashion.

It’s actually not just about even what you purchase; it’s about, ‘whatever you buy, would you wear it thirty times?’ That makes anything ethical and sustainable. That’s really the issue that we have with our fashion, that people are buying clothes and throwing them away after wearing them twice, filling landmines, creating unsafe working conditions. Destroying the planet, essentially.

We agree, Emma!

What do you think about Emma’s love for sustainable fashion? Let us know in the comments below!
