How Slytherins Tackle a Theme Park Event

by Rachael Dechert · August 1, 2017

It’s almost time for MuggleNet Live! 2017: Nineteen Years Later. I am super excited and wanted to share a few tips on how to get the most out of your night. I spend most of my time at the many theme parks in Orlando, so I have my routine locked down. This is a guide for Slytherins attending the event. Not a Slytherin? That’s okay! Not everyone has that privilege. We also have guides for Hufflepuffs, Ravenclaws, and Gryffindors.

When entering Diagon Alley for the first time, you’re going to want to familiarize yourself with the layout of the area. Walk around a little. Memorize where each shop is and learn where the important food and beverage stops are along the way. You don’t want to get lost when it’s time for dinner or ice cream. Slytherins are the best when it comes to getting around waiting in lines. Get there first or last. Don’t join in on the mad rush.

Hit the shops first. Everyone will be in line for the rides right away. It will die down later in the night. Just don’t wait too long to ride Gringotts since it will be shut down around midnight. Go through each shop and decide what you want to buy. Make a note of it and then head on to the next shop. I’d recommend hitting Ollivanders first so that you can get a wand to cast spells in Diagon Alley. Buy your wand and robes right away so you can enjoy them all night, but save the rest of your purchases for the end of the night. You won’t want to carry everything around the entire event. Unless you have a Hufflepuff who is content to carry your bags around for you.

Spend some time in Knockturn Alley. This is honestly my favorite part of the park. It looks amazing and there are some super cool things to see. Talk to some of the workers in Borgin and Burkes. Ask if they have any cool stories to tell you about some of the decorations in the shop. I promise that you’ll be fascinated by the many stories that they have to tell. Maybe you’ll even discover one for yourself.

Drink as much butterbeer and pumpkin juice as you possibly can. Take advantage of the free food, drinks, and ice cream. Try every flavor of ice cream twice. Taste every non-alcoholic drink on the menu, and maybe sample some of the wizarding beers that they have for sale. Stuff yourself with the delicious food that the Leaky Cauldron is preparing just for us. Make sure to leave enough room so that you can keep going back all night, though. Take advantage of the food.

Make sure you decide what your must-dos are before you enter the park. Do that first because you never know what will happen during the night. You might meet some new friends and want to hang out with them for the rest of the night. Maybe you’ll eat and drink too much and decide to spend the rest of the night just hanging out watching Celestina and plotting ways to take home some butterbeer.

Make some new friends. Harry Potter fans from all over are coming to this event. Talk to everyone because you all share your love for the Harry Potter books. Say hello to your favorite MuggleNet staff member and keep an eye out for our celebrity guests throughout the night. You never know when they’ll pop up.

Potter History

January 19, 2005 – David Yates is officially named as the director of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.

Potter Quote

“My brothers, my sisters. The clock is ticking faster. We who live for freedom, for truth, and for love. The moment has come to share my vision of the future that awaits if we do not rise up and take our rightful place in the world. Where we wizards are free. Aurors, join me in this circle, pledge to me your eternal allegiance, or die.”
