“Cursed Child” on Broadway Is Now Offering Friday Forty Tickets

by Lainey Ruffner · March 3, 2018

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child‘s Friday Forty tickets will give fans an opportunity to see the performance on Broadway for just $40! Every Friday, 40 tickets for some of the best seats in the theater will be released for each performance of Cursed Child taking place the following week.

Entries for the Friday Forty tickets will be accepted every Friday from 12:01 a.m. ET until 1:00 p.m. ET for the following week’s performances. The randomly selected winners will be notified between 1:00 p.m. ET and 5:00 p.m. ET that same day and will have one hour to claim their tickets. Each winner can secure a maximum of two tickets for consecutive performances of Part One and Part Two at $20 per part. The first set of Friday Forty tickets will be released this Friday, March 9, for the play’s first Broadway performance taking place on March 16 and 17.

With performances starting in just two weeks, the newly renovated Lyric Theatre finally revealed its impressive new Cursed Child marquee. The elaborate creation consists of a 150-foot, 50,000-pound metal wing stretching from over the West 43rd Street entrance to cover almost the whole side of the theater. A sculpture representation of the play’s logo, a winged nest containing a small child, can be seen on top of the building as well.

During the theater renovation, the main entrance to the Lyric Theatre was moved from West 42nd to West 43rd Street due to the excessive pedestrian traffic typically present outside of the old entrance. This new entrance allowed more freedom for the marquee design by providing an expanse of 200 feet along the building for the structure to occupy. The switch also highlights the building’s original historic facade from 1903.

The creation is the combined work of the production’s set designer Christine Jones and scenic supervisor Brett J. Banakis. The designers spoke to the Hollywood Reporter about their inspiration for the design.

We drew inspiration from the wing artwork from the Harry Potter and the Cursed Child poster art and tried to translate that imagery into a large, metal installation on the side of the building to serve as a beacon, a gathering spot, and a piece of public sculpture, here in the heart of Times Square.

If you haven’t managed to get tickets to the show yet, the Friday Forty is a great chance to win some reasonably priced tickets. You can enter for Friday Forty tickets through the official website, TodayTix.com, or the TodayTix App. If you want to guarantee you won’t miss out on this opportunity, you can also sign up for an email alert from TodayTix to remind you when the Friday Forty opens for entries.
