Review & Giveaway: Geek Gear’s July World of Wizardry Unboxing!

by Aimee Krenz · August 8, 2018

As we wished J.K. Rowling and Harry Potter a happy birthday, our three Geek Gear World of Wizardry reviewers were pretending that their birthday was partly the reason July’s box was so awesome!

Take a look at our video review of July’s box and then check out our individual reviews before scrolling on down to enter for your chance to win one of three boxes in August.

Included in each monthly box are:

  • One wizarding world-themed T-shirt
  • One exclusive print
  • Four other wizarding world-themed and officially licensed products
Aimee's Review - July's Slytherin Box

As soon as I opened up the packaging, I could literally smell the goodies inside July's World of Wizardry box. Normally, I start with the items on top of the box and work my way to the bottom, but the sweet smell of butterbeer had me digging straight to the bottom of the box to find the cause. I was pleased to find a bar of butterscotch soap waiting for me.

Another item in July's box that I was super in love with was the wand. The folks at Geek Gear took the time to wrap the wand as if it had lovingly been packaged by Ollivander himself and placed in the owl post to arrive just before the start of the new school year at Hogwarts.

We also received a House-specific item - a tote bag in House colors! Since I am a Slytherin, my tote bag was green.

Our print this month was what looked like a page from Newt's bestiary, perhaps? The Demiguise was the beast captured in this sketch, and charted were the qualities the Demiguise is known to have displayed (foresight and invisibility) along with the nature of its temperament (protective and nurturing).

I really enjoyed July's box and am looking forward to seeing what August will bring!

Lizzie's Review - July's Gryffindor Box
The smell of the butterscotch soap greeted me before I managed to open the box and I can't wait to use it. I am building up the best collection of wands! Seriously, they are such great quality and I love unwrapping them every month.

But I have to admit, our Fantastic Beasts addition to the box stole the show. This is a beautiful print of our favorite Demiguise, with notations around the illustration taken straight from Newt Scamander's book. The level of detail on every item in the box is incredible and blows me away every month. Now excuse me while I go use this delicious soap and find some space on my wall!

Megan's Review - July's Slytherin Box

The second I opened this box, I was greeted with a warm butterscotch smell (coming from the butterscotch soap). Butterscotch is one of my favorite scents, so I was really excited about that.

The shirt in this box, once again, is wonderful. I love a good mashup of two fandoms.

The little Hogwarts Express figure is perfect for my desk at work, and the wand is a perfect addition to my collection.

The tote bag seems to be good quality, though the generic wording on it of "wizarding school" cracks me up a bit.

Overall, I'm happy with this box. Geek Gear has done it again!
