Social Media Roundup: Friends, Photography, and Celebrating 90 Years

by Lucy O'Shea · February 24, 2019

Welcome to the latest edition of Social Media Roundup! Our favorite wizarding world stars have been celebrating the 90th birthday of the performers’ trade union Equity, as well as sharing moments from their projects and other adventures in February.

Daniel Radcliffe has been doing a lot of press for his new show, Miracle Workers, this month. Giving us a little peek behind the scenes, the director of Episode 1, Jorma Taccone, has shared a number of photos and videos on Instagram. The posts feature a running joke of Taccone singing to his new “best friend,” Dan!

It’s such a blessing to make a new best friend at this age. Also @miracleworkerstbs premieres tonight on @tbs and I directed the pilot. 🙌🏻

Speaking of friends, Emma Watson shared a photo that was taken by her friend and fellow Potter alumnus Tom Felton.

A famous face dropped by to see the Broadway production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child in February. Actress, comedian, and writer Tina Fey took this great photo with the cast backstage.

Two very different wizards sat down for a chat this month! David Tennant (Barty Crouch Jr.) sat down with Ian McKellen (Gandalf, The Lord of the Rings) for an episode of his podcast, David Tennant Does a Podcast With…, so make sure to give it a listen!

And finally, UK-based performers’ trade union Equity turned 90 years old this month, so a number of wizarding world stars took part in the celebrations on social media.

My trade union Equity is 90 this year and I’m proud to be part of its fight for better, fairer and more equal pay and conditions, safe workplaces and investment in the arts #MyCardMyUnion #ProudtobeEquity pic.twitter.com/Ye3mUVdSu1

— Stephen Fry (@stephenfry) February 12, 2019

Today, my union, @EquityUK celebrates 90 years supporting actors in so many ways. Together we are stronger. #MyCardMyUnion #ProudToBeEquity pic.twitter.com/Xh75JpuyWQ

— Warwick Davis (@WarwickADavis) February 12, 2019

Performers from across the UK, including Stephen Fry (UK audiobook narrator), Warwick Davis (Professor Flitwick/Griphook), Sean Biggerstaff (Oliver Wood), Jon Campling (Death Eater), David Tennant (Barty Crouch Jr.), and Katie Leung (Cho Chang), posted their support for the trade union by posing with giant versions of their membership cards.

My shoulders are weirdly lopsided and I look like I’m laughing at a naughty joke, but the point stands: very proud to be a member as we celebrate 90 years of @EquityUK #MyCardMyUnion pic.twitter.com/BS4spnKetK

— Sean Biggerstaff (@Seanchuckle) February 16, 2019

Wishing my union @EquityUK a VERY happy 90th birthday.

Thanks for the innumerable times you have helped me over my 30Yr career ❤️🙏 #StrongerTogether #ProudtobeEquity #MyCardMyUnion #Equity #Equity90 #Actor pic.twitter.com/GeNHUcZaq5
