Keep Your Wands at the Ready: “Dark Arts at Hogwarts Castle” Is Debuting at Universal Orlando Resort Next Week

by Thea McCarty · September 6, 2019

Get your wands out and prepare for a light show spectacular like no other to arrive at Universal Orlando Resort!

Hogwarts is about to become home to the most mysterious of magic, the Dark Arts. Featuring state-of-the-art projection mapping, intense special effects, and music, “Dark Arts at Hogwarts Castle” will entrance anyone who sees it, Muggle or wizard.

The highly anticipated projection show incorporates images and lights from the Harry Potter series.

Once darkness falls on Universal Orlando Resort, the Dark Arts will consume Hogwarts and Hogsmeade Village. Ominous fog and green lights will set the tone for the show to begin. The Death Eaters will arrive as the castle is enveloped in all manners of Dark creatures and magic through the use of projection lights. Even Lord Voldemort will make an odious appearance. The show will conclude with the spectacular and powerful Patronus Charm, learned in Defense Against the Dark Arts classes and of course, taught by Harry himself during Dumbledore’s Army meetings.

Remember what Mad-Eye Moody always touted, “constant vigilance”? Well, keep that quote in mind, because for the first time, visitors of Universal Orlando Resort will be coming face-to-face with the devoted followers of Voldemort, Death Eaters. These Death Eaters will be roaming the streets of Hogsmeade Village, practicing magic without care for wizarding laws.

The much-anticipated “Dark Arts at Hogwarts Castle” is finally arriving at Universal Orlando Resort on September 14 and running through November 15, 2019. The show was over at Universal Studios Hollywood this past spring and was an instant hit with Muggles and wizards, alike.

Check out the video of “Dark Arts at Hogwarts Castle” at Universal Studios Hollywood below.

Press Release

“DARK ARTS AT HOGWARTS CASTLE” TO MAKE ITS HIGHLY-ANTICIPATED [sic] DEBUT AT UNIVERSAL ORLANDO RESORT ON SEPTEMBER 14

All-New Experiences at Universal Orlando Resort will Bring the Darker Side of the Wizarding World – including Death Eaters – to Life in Hogsmeade on Select Nights Through November 15

Orlando, Fla. (September 5, 2019) – Next week, the all-new light projection experience, “Dark Arts at Hogwarts Castle,” will make its highly-anticipated debut at Universal Orlando Resort – utilizing state-of-the-art projection mapping, special effects and lighting to bring a new dimension of magic to life on the majestic Hogwarts castle. And, for the first time at Universal Orlando, guests will be able to encounter Death Eaters - devoted followers of Lord Voldemort known for their allegiance and practice of the Dark Arts – as part of their experience in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Hogsmeade.

As darkness falls on select nights September 14 through November 15, the all-consuming Dark Arts will be unleashed in Hogsmeade. Ominous green light and fog will permeate the village, signaling the arrival of the Death Eaters. They’ll eerily roam throughout Hogsmeade, lurking amongst guests – practicing the Dark Arts with complete disregard of wizarding laws.

Then, “Dark Arts at Hogwarts Castle” will illuminate a darker side of the wizarding world as sinister creatures and villains – such as Dementors, Aragog, Mountain Trolls, Thestrals and more – cloak the castle through a mesmerizing display of light, music and special effects. Guests will be asked to summon their inner strength and bravely face the Dark Arts and the visage of the powerful Dark wizard Lord Voldemort, until the Patronus spell – one of the most famous, difficult and powerful defense of the Dark Arts charms in the wizarding world – is cast.

“Dark Arts at Hogwarts Castle” will run select nights from September 14 through November 15 in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Hogsmeade at Universal’s Islands of Adventure. For more information about “Darks Arts at Hogwarts Castle,” visit www.universalorlando.com.
