Review & Giveaway: Win a Copy of “Harry Potter: Spells & Charms: A Movie Scrapbook” from Insight Editions!

by Amanda Evans · September 4, 2019

Want to see behind the scenes of iconic spells and charms from the Harry Potter film series? Harry Potter: Spells and Charms: A Movie Scrapbook from Insight Editions is a must-have collectible for all Harry Potter fans. We’ve partnered with Insight Editions for an awesome giveaway, so you can get your hands on one of your very own. Read on for a review of Harry Potter: Spells & Charms: A Movie Scrapbook from MuggleNet’s Social Media Twitter staff member Amanda Evans, and then enter to win one for yourself!

Good news: I received a super-cool book in the mail. Better news: I get to tell you all about it! Come take a seat in the grass with me, and we’ll crack open a brand-new book of witchcraft and wizardry.

Insight Editions’s “Harry Potter: Spells & Charms: A Movie Scrapbook” – front cover

This will come as to no shock to you, I’m sure, but I’m a pretty huge Harry Potter fan. Besides spending my free time working for MuggleNet, I also own multiple copies of the books (including the original set I read as a kid and a pretty boxed set), listen to the audiobooks on a regular basis (nothing lulls me to sleep better than the soft inflections of Jim Dale), and flick through The Tales of Beedle the Bard. So while I’m pretty immersed in the wizarding world, what I always find myself craving is a resource about spells! Let’s be honest – as cool as dragons and earwax-flavored candy are, we all want to learn some magic. Well, my friend, I’ve finally found the book for you!

Insight Editions’s “Harry Potter: Spells & Charms: A Movie Scrapbook” – Avada Kedavra spread

Harry Potter: Spells & Charms: A Movie Scrapbook is full of wandwork, spell essentials, and details from the movies.  You can find “wand choreography” to fine-tune your charms, find when our friends from the books used them, and find behind-the-scenes stories about how spells were filmed!

Insight Editions’s “Harry Potter: Spells & Charms: A Movie Scrapbook” – Improper Spells spread

This would be a perfect piece to display proudly as part of your Harry Potter collection. With the gleaming, colorful pages and bright illustrations, every page is like a piece of art! The pictures might not move like at Hogwarts, but if you want to pretend, I won’t judge 😉

Insight Editions’s “Harry Potter: Spells & Charms: A Movie Scrapbook” – Expecto Patronum spread

Insight Editions’s “Harry Potter: Spells & Charms: A Movie Scrapbook” – Expecto Patronum spread with Patronus cards

What is the coolest part of this book? All the moving parts! This isn’t a book you quietly page through – there are folding pages, doors to open, and even a sleeve with cards inside! In the spread describing the Patronus charm, there are cards of different characters’ Patronuses! They’re beautiful to look at and such a fun way to keep your characters straight.

TL;DR: Do I like the book? YES! I love it! I had a ton of fun breaking this baby open, and I can’t wait to set it up on my Harry Potter shelf. If you’re a big Harry Potter fan looking for something new to add to your collection that’s different than everything else you already have, this book was made for you.

That’s all I’ve got, friends, so I guess that means… mischief managed!

Harry Potter: Spells & Charms: A Movie Scrapbook, from Insight Editions, will go to one lucky winner. Our contest is open worldwide, starting today, September 4, running through September 18 at 11:59 p.m. ET. Enter through the Rafflecopter below.
