Funko Opens New Retail Store in Los Angeles, California

“Everyone is a fan of something.” The collectible figurine company Funko takes on a new location with its new brick-and-mortar store! The creator of the pop culture statuettes based the idea of the stores on immersing fans and customers in an experience other retail outlets aren’t able to provide. The new 40,000-square-foot store is in the heart of the entertainment industry in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California. Funko’s CMO, Molly Hartney, explains why this location seemed like the best place to set up shop:

We wanted to double our footprint with the Los Angeles store, and this location is 40,000 [square] feet. We wanted to do that in a location that could be considered the mecca of entertainment, and that is Hollywood.

At 17,000 square feet, the original brick-and-mortar shop in Everett, Washington, is less than twice the size. It’s also conveniently located near the Funko company headquarters. The second store definitely does the trick to increase size and foot traffic. Hartney notes another perk of the Hollywood location:

Additionally, it is actually very nice that all of our studio partners are in the vicinity. Our licensing team and other elements of the business are also in Hollywood.

The big-eyed vinyl figurines are available in a wide variety of character renderings for fans to expand their collection. Franchises include Star Wars, Harry Potter, Fantastic Beasts, the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Disney, video game franchises, cult classic movies, and so much more! Certain areas of the new shop will feature various sets of different fandoms.

2019 has been a favorable year for Funko, not only in profits but also in terms of the company’s 21st anniversary. Sales have increased in their third quarter by 26%, a gross profit increase of 26%, and an overall income from operations increase of 36%.
